The "cellular phone" was decided to be the medium with which the rain gods were defied.

Love gushes in the time of floods. The city of Mumbai - the financial heart of India was inundated by extremely heavy rainfall in the last few weeks. Reports claimed that things were so bad that this is the heaviest monsoon the city has seen in the last 100 years. Public transport went haywire and so did a few mobile networks; but many operators managed to provide services when they were needed most. Bridegroom Baqar Abbas was in Raipur ; a long distance from Mumbai while his to-be bride remained in Mumbai. They were supposed to wed on Thursday night (28th July). Unfortunately the trains were not going anywhere. The stubborn lovers decided to wed the same evening using technology to defy nature.
The "cellular phone" was decided to be the medium with which the rain gods were defied. The wireless Nikah ceremony (wedding) was performed over the cell phone with priests on both sides supervising the ceremonies at the two ends. July 28, says the groom was fixed as the most auspicious time for the marriage and even the priests could not defer the same. With no other solution in sight, this unique idea was adopted to wed the two. The wedding registration certificate was signed by the bride and faxed to the groom who also signed it and submitted it. The newly weds were happy at being married but both were extremely upset over the fact that the rain gods had the last laugh. They wanted to be together on the "Suhaag Raat" or wedding night; something that technology too could not solve. Star Trek technology perhaps would one day allow us to be free from the ravages of nature.

lol!!! pano kaya yung "kiss the bride" and honeymoon ng mga 'to? I just can imagine....
