May 5th, 2008 12:11 AM #22normal po sa diesel engines yung may tumatalsik na oil sa dipstick and dun sa oil cap.. even blowby is also normal on diesel engines since they run under very high compression and therefore piston rings cannot completely seal this off so you will have blow by gases.. marami kasi sa atin maraming naniniwala sa mga makalumang mekaniko na nag sanay lang sa mga lumang isuzu diesel engine (c-190, c-240 etc) yung mga diesel engines ngayon naka direct na yung blow by gas hose sa valve cover or dun sa intake para recirculate sa combustion chamber for better emission.. pag low idle ang diesel engine mababa din ang vacuum sa intake kaya slightly pressurized yung crank case mo (but pressure is not enough to blow the dipstick out of the tube) kaya pag binuksan mo yung dipstick or oil cap eh may langis na lumalabas due to the crankcase pressure and moving parts.... kung binabasa nyo owners manual wala naman dun nakasulat na "open the oil cap while engine is running" or "check oil level at dipstick while engine is running" dapat lagi off ang engine.. as long as your engine is running smoothly at hindi nagsusunog ng langis ok yan..
we had an ISUZU c-190 engine sa AUV namin na talagang sagsag sa gamit.. i noticed lately na pag binuksan mo yung dipstick eh walang langis na lumalabas..hmm mukhang ok ang engine pero sa totoo lang eh loose compression na sya at nagsusunog na ng langis... kaya pala walang langis na tumatalsik eh hindi na kasi umaakyat yung langis dun valves.. pero inspite of that situation umaandar pa din sya hahaha makupad na nga lang at mahina hatak

Re: splashing of oil...
I mentioned splashing of oil in the crankcase by the crankshaft. It was said that this is bad due to the foaming effect it has on the oil and its relationship with oil pressure. This, in combination with increased tolerances and compression of diesels, means you should never overfill with motor oil.
I agree that blowby is normal in diesel engines but when you say that it's normal to see oil splashing out of the dipstick or sa oil cap is a generalization at best. Not all engines are designed like that. My diesel doesn't burn any oil, and removing the dipstick with the engine running (or the oil cap for that matter) shows no oil splashing out either way, warmed up or cold.

heeeeeeeeelllp!!!
too much oil is spewing out from my dipstick! oil splatters everywhere when i take off the stick while the engine's running. 1st time it happened to my xto.
my mechanic added STP in my last oil change last august. could this be the culprit? i was thinking that it could've ruined my oil rings.
will somebody shed light on me please? TIA happy new year!

May 5th, 2012 08:04 AM #261 gal = 3.785 L and not 4 L so you overfill it by 0.285 L if 4L ang capacity ng engine as you stated.
may natutunan na naman ako sa tsikot, normal lang pala sa diesel ang blow-by
dati kasi gas gamit ko at alam ko di syado maganda pag meron lalo na pag warm na yung engine.
