Actually baligtad. Pag monograde malapot pa rin ang oil on cold starts kaya mahirap i-circulate.
Pag multigrade, malabnaw ang oil during cold starts then balik sa tamang viscosity pag operating temp na.
ex: 20w40, SAE 20 pag cold, SAE40 pag operating temp na.
Kelangan kasi malabnaw ang oil pag cold coz may tendency na bumaba halos lahat sa sump lalo na pag walang one-way valve ang gamit na oil filter, so kelangan mas madali i-recirculate pag nag start ang engine.
Gumamit din ako ng monograde dati. Ang rule of the thumb ko on monograde is to make sure na walang engine load (idle lang) ang engine for a minute after I start the engine cold.

January 18th, 2013 12:58 AM #8I want some clarification lang, since walang winter sa pinas or even lower than 15 degrees ang temperature so its safe to use sae40.The 15w is good for -20 degrees cranking. Why are we still need 15w-40 specially its expensive compare to monograde?
