Just to add since the "edit" post option of this thread is still iffy.

Is it normal for the Baldwin filters to be not wrapped in shrink wrap? The box appears a bit soiled but gives an impression of legitimacy with the computer etching printing of the Bar code + "Made in the USA" .

Even the Toyota filters from Toyota car dealers have a shrink wrapped covering on the bottom (to protect the filter's internal before use).

The filter itself has a computer stamping on top.

These are real, They have 100% real on the Baldwins, They are no longer a Donadson official dealer. Lesson learned I guess.

If the box is a little dirty it's really not a big deal, I have some that are like that two, they get jacked up from being shipped around. 90% of Baldwins come individually boxed so they are not wrapped in plastic, So far never seen on wrapped that is boxed. Fleetguards are not individually boxed but come in cases of 12 or 6 depending on the filter size but mainly 12 but are fully sealed in plastic.

Only thing you need to check on a filter really is dents, rust, bad threads. Those appear to be in perfect shape to me. Good to see they keep them in stock. No real knockoff market for Baldwins one the reproduction cost is a bit more due to the orange peal paint job they have and there being only one vendor in the Philippines kind of would screw them royally if they did sell the fakes.

As you can see they are the same.

As you can see Baldwins no plastic Fleetguards fully wrapped. Except for there Fuel filters they tend to be wrapped.

sir how to distinguished between a good used oil and an oil that is already due for changing? w.o using any testing machine etc...

nag change oil (diesel) po kasi ako.. at ang napancin ko yung used oil eh halos kasing labnaw pa din ng bagong oil (almost drips like water po...) not unlike my previous oil change na malapot na po yung used oil... compare sa bagong oil....

Visual inspection on diesel oil is not really a reliable means to know if the oil is in need of a change, But if it pours like water it's a sure bet the viscosity has broken down and it needs to be changed. Almost any Diesel oil has a TBN of around 10 and can make it 8000klm to 10000klm easily. More if you have a good filter.

Doc, i saw a post on sulit.com about this isntant test for gasoline and diedel engine oils to be able to determine if its already due for change its just apiece of paper and will change color depending on the TBN i guess..

its fromm sulit.com type "instant Lubricant Diagnostics"

FLUID RX INSTANT LUBRICANT TEST FOR GASOLINE AND DIESEL ENGINE
    How Fluid Rx Works

All modern lubricants contain additives that inhibit breakdown. As these additives are depleted, sludge forms. This shortens equipment life and reduces performance causing an overall increase in operating costs. Fluid Rx is a patented radial planner chromatographic diagnostic tool that provides analysis of a fluid's additive package, its dispersant properties and total sludge or debris content; no tools or special training is needed.

Fluid Rx Diagnostics provides simple and accurate verification that a fluid should be changed in accordance with MAP/AMRA UICS fluid recommendations and California BAR guidelines.

Simply place a drop of the sample fluid or lubricant on the Fluid Rx tester (filter paper) then compare the findings to the Fluid Rx ISO Laboratory analysis chart. In seconds Fluid Rx provides an analysis of crankcase and gear oils; power steering, transmission and brake fluids. Our All-In-One Antifreeze/ Coolant Diagnostics provides a simple & accurate evaluation of glycol content, and the anticorrosive package of all coolants including ELC and Long-Life formulas.

is there any truth to this product.. its also cheap to begin with.

Well here's what Fleetguard sent me.

CSSPI has been purchasing LF3564 made in Malaysia since Feb 2008 So far, there has been no quality issue raised.
Pictures attached. LF3564 as shown below has been supplied by Cummins Filtration since YR2004 from source in Malaysia. All Fleetguard products will always meet or exceed OE specifications and they are covered under Fleetguard global warranty.
I would like to visit those customers of CSSPI who are confused by this issue and I will address them in person for my next trip to Philippines
Anyone who has a questionable filter they would like to be contacted, Pics and a invoice of purchase helps out a lot.

These are the photos they sent of the filter.

Now here is the one posted from W&L on this forum. Not the same filter in my opinion, and if it is the quality is crap.

I would only purchase them with the country of origin on the filter because these South east Asia filters are defiantly not that impressive. Not it's still fully wrapped in plastic, the ones with with the plastic at the bottom only should be completly avoided (they never have a country on them)

The BD28 is a far superior filter than this one, way more pleats and more filter surface.

One thing I noticed is that the orig Fleetguard has the markings going up the can while the fake one has markings going down into the bottom where the oil goes thru. Definitely two different filters.

That's my experience now doc... after 1200km of using trekker rev-x engine oil WITH STP Engine Oil Treatment, my car smoke badly, like insanely black... when i change my oil early this morning, the oil is so watery ... what's wrong with that doc? is it the additive?

oh btw, i currently used delo gold ultra and vic filter (sorry...)

^ That is interesting because I can't find MSDS data for Petron products. I am doubtful in their formulation kaya never used it even before.

    just bought a BT233 for my 4cy Toyota and a BD28.

the guy at Volmax gave me an Old New stock of the BD28. he told me that its the last one they have. will post picture of it later.

at first he didnt want to sell it to me cause he said people from tsikot are "maselan" haha hopefully its not a fake.

just a heads up for all people wanting to buy BD28 for their 4D56 powered L300, it will not fit!! cause the filter is 0.5in longer and it is hitting the chassis and cant place it in anymore..
