    * Ry_Tower: Please check with Cummins Philippines as to Synchrotek's number. Cummins Philippines appointed them as sub-dealer.

    * dvldoc: Can you please bring the filter to my office? I want to take a closer look. This has to be verified with Cummins Filtration in Singapore (they are in charge of whole Southeast Asia region and the Philippines falls under their jurisdiction). Based on the stamping number, they will confirm with finality if the filter is original or fake.

Here are the answers to some of your questions:

Country of Origin: All of the manufacturing plants for Fleetguard indicate except for the plant in China. It does not put "Country of Origin" upon the request of some dealers in Asia. I will have to confirm regarding if this particular number was produced there.

Filter not completely sealed in plastic: Depends on the filter. Some are sealed in "shrink wrapped" plastic while others are just placed in plastic. Some are just placed in boxes without any plastic wrapping.

Lack of crimps: I have to see the actual filter. This might be a fake or a factory defect.

Cut open: This is a fake. Fleetguard has a picture of the actual cutaway. I will ask for a pic from the technical department in Singapore and post it here.

Labels: Due to rampant counterfeiting, Fleetguard revamped its label designs entirely. I will try and get the specs and post it here.

For more information, please check: www.cumminsfiltration.com.

*dvldoc: I have forwarded your concerns to Cummins Filtration in Singapore along with the pictures. The technical department head is currently out of the country but will be back within the week. I will post their reply regarding this matter.

I am in the US these filters were posted by members on this forum. This has already been forwarded to Fleetguards man HQ not only in the Philippines but to Singapore and the US about a month and a half ago.

All are in plastic if your getting filters that are not sealed in plastic it's a sure bet they don't have a country of origin, the only way they are not sealed is that they have been removed from the plastic. The plastic wrap is part of the manufacturing process. I been to the plant on a tour and seen this for myself here in the States. I'm also a re-saler of Fleetguard filters here in the states, Never seen one not sealed in plastic. They are also only sold in cases not individually unless someone removes them and re-boxes them.

Here is another good example of poor quality. The LF3314 from there, (no country of origin, no plastic comes in a box, if fluted) The LF3314 does not have a fluted top.

Look at the poor filter media quality it's wavy and uneven. Look at the center tube it's not the same spiral design found in that filter, the spring is much thinner and lighter and the anti drain back valve is completely different.

Now compare that LF3314 to a LF3313 which are identical filters except for length. Notice the difference in quality.

Now look at the second Fleetguard filter look at the bypass valve set up and lack of of coil spring, that filter is the equivalent of the Baldwin BT223 but the build is of a low end filter.

Compare that to a Baldwin not even close on quality when it should be better. You can see it doesn't even half as many pleats on the filter media and it's not the cellulose material Fleetguard uses.

I am puzzled why these shops don't know what they are selling are not the real deal, Fleetguard had training and seminars on this very topic.

Lets look at the LF3314 again (Thanks to 12vdc) for the pics. Notice the color of the font is different, notice the filter is fluted. (that's the little dents in the top for grip) Notice the plastic only at the bottom of the filter and as always no country of origin. We have already determined the filter internals are not Fleetguard quality. The date code also does not match Fleetguards standards.

The size off the filter is also wrong it has a larger diameter and is shorter than it stated on the fleetguard site. So in this pic you got 5 real fleetguards with one fake. Should be all be real if your a official dealer.

This is a real LF3314 I got 2 cases I am looking right at.

Notice a common theme with all these filters on my table. You will not find a real one not fully sealed in plastic it's a Fleetguard requirement. It's to keep contaminates out of the filter.

    * Crazyboy here is a Bosch korea filter, They are good quality as long as you get a real one.

Here is a few more examples,

    Fake LF5159 on the right

These are real ones LF5159 are not painted white they come in a stainless steel finish only. Things like this could verified by a dealer with a simple phone call.

    Older style

Newer Fluted model.. Also note the fake has 6 holes in the base while the real has 8 holes so now your talking about fuel starvation issues with your engine using this low quality fake. Again I am sure everyone would like the explanation of the glaring difference in the filters and the below sub par filter internals. The only truth is it's not a real fleetguard.

On China Fleetguards, reals one have Chinese writing on them. I don't speak it or read it but I'm pretty shure it has the country of origin on it. The ones marketed to other countries will have English.

And you will know they are real from the case they come in as well.

This is the Plant in China.

*dvldoc: I just got a reply from the technical head of Fleetguard Singapore and he states : "First part is to answer the question on the FF5116.

Appreciate if you can verify with the customer on the source where he had purchased this p/n?
    - For example, an invoice issued by the seller where the customer had bought the part from

This will better enable us to identify whether the filter is genuine or not. Based on the photos provided, we are not able to determine whether the product actually comes from us or not. A good verification source will be the purchase tax invoice from the retailer as indicated above.

Based on our data, FF5116 is sourced from an external party in Turkey, which meets our requirement as per stated in our product information catalog and covers under our warranty. So far, there had not been similar complaint received from other regions.

The second part is to answer your other questions on the variances which you had noticed on Fleetguard products from us.

Thanks for your valuable feedback and we really appreciate it.

Moving forward, Corporate had since taken notice of all these variances on our products and do rest ensure that we are working towards resolving all these variances. We will constantly keep you updated on any latest developments on our products."

I will follow-up with Fleetguard regarding your other questions.
