    Guys,

Gusto ko lang makuha opinion nyo.

My REVO SR (gas) is due for the first 1000KM checkup, so magpapalit na ako ng langis.

Sa estimate ko, it will take me 6 months to travel 5000Km. So kung mineral, mukhang oks lang ang 6months change oil interval. Kung synth naman, eh di 12 months change oil interval ko. Ok pa ba ito?

Is it worth it na mag-synthetic oil for Revo? Your thoughts will be appreciated here. Normal city driving lang ang use; office - bahay lang route; 2 people lang regular na sakay, and mga 7 people during weekends.

    thanks.

It just involves oil filter replacement every 5k and add ng kaunti oil. Oil change will occur every 10k. Let's wait for the experiences of other tsikoteers.

I suggest staying with mineral. Medyo hindi pabor ang cost difference vs. benefits kung gagamit ka ng synthetic. Fully realized lang ang benefits ng synth if you run your engine real long and real hard.

Sa ibang markets, they still recommend you change your oil at the manufacturer's interval be it synth or not kasi nga, napupuno pa din ito ng contaminants (which is the reason why oil has to be changed). Sa Pilipinas ko nga lang narinig yung humahaba ang interval after switching to synth.

ahh sir OTEP.... dba un driving condition sa pinas is included under harsh ba na driving condition? kaya dapat pa rin ata every 5K ang palit kahit na synth un gamit. 2500 nga gastos nito every interval eh wala naman ako magagawa eh ganun ang singil ng kasa sa synth uhhmm and ayaw ko naman sa labas kasi bago pa under warranty

Yes, under 'harsh' driving conditions ang conditions dito sa atin. But a good mineral-based oil can take it. Yes, you may get some benefits from synthetic, but the cost difference is still not justifiable (at least by my wallet's standard).

Synthetic oils will keep their lubricating properties longer. But the primary reason we change the oil is not because the oil has 'broken down'. Rather it is because there are already contaminants suspended in the oil (because of the cleaning effect of the oil). That's why changing oil every 5k kms is better for me because I get to throw out the contaminants more often. And since mineral oil does not lose its lubricating properties in the span of 5K kms, I just use mineral. Tipid pa.

sir OTEP: ahhh ok.. so ok lang pala kahit mineral, kahit in the long run wala naman prob if mineral lagi basta change oil lang lagi noh??

for gas engines, the best mineral based oil available locally i think is Caltex Energy.
