Definitly the synthetic diesel oils are the best like Mobil Delvac 1 (API CI-4), Mitsubishi Turbo XP (API SL/CF), Petron Rev-X All Terrain (API CF-4/CF), etc... For mineral oils try the Mobil Delvac MX, Petron Rev-X Trekker, and Shell Rimula. All are API CH-4 and SAE 15W-40. Caltex Delo 400 is also very good (API CI-4) though available in 20 liter pails and 200 liter drums. :D

March 30th, 2003 11:25 AM #4Synthetic oils are definitely the best for our diesel and perhaps all other engines. Ano difference kaya ng mga synthetic oils na namention ni roydok? Mobil Delvac 1 lang kasi ako familiar. Sana magkaroon ng side by side comparison ang mga yon para malaman natin ang best value for money.

If the oil is a mineral oil, it's also better if the the grade difference on the weight (i.e. 15W-40, 5w-30, etc) should not have that high ia difference between the minimum and max grade ( a 20-30 difference would be fine). Try looking up also such info like flashpoint, ash content (the lower the better), etc...
As for me, i'm happy with my Delvac MX naman. Didnt notice any sludging when i change the oil (every 5K). I saw a newspaper article that gave some good info on oils before, including a spec comparison and definition but i lost it...

March 30th, 2003 10:22 PM #8A good value-for-money synthetic oil for diesels would be Petron's all terrain 5w30 IF your ride is not leaking nor eating up oil. A synthetic would make the engine run smoother, even improve consumption, and can last up to 10k km if your air and oil filters are changed regularly.

April 1st, 2003 06:00 PM #9synthetic oils is the best but if you have to change oil every 5K sayang lang. for mineral based oil parang maganda yung bagong oil nang shell.
i had my PM done last month sa isuzu pasig and i used shell helix for diesel. im not sure if its psychological but it seems a lot better than rimula x. parang mas "magaan" humatak at mas tahimik.
