I'm not seeing any Repsol 5w30 API SP.

So I'm guessing this 10w30 is the oil you are referring to? The 2 jugs for P1950 deal might have been a promo? Because I'm seeing 345 a liter here:

Oils. I just follow factory specs & change every 5k km or the longest, annually...whichever comes 1st. Tropics, usage & traffic must be factored in. If an intended keeper sees mostly short & slow trips, biannual oil changes(regardless of distance covered) should keep the engine healthy looooonger.

force of habit lang yan. if you've been successfully using brand X mineral for decades then why change now

also the actual performance differences between an api SN mineral vs an SN group3 "synthetic" probably isn't as big as you think. against GTL or PAO then maybe the gap widens. coz "synthetic" is now just a marketing term, not a technical spec, so who knows what "synthetic" actually means

btw what's wrong with "10w"? it's actually better if you're in PH than 5w

So it's basically a simple case of "you can't teach old dog new tricks".

You say the difference isn't big between conventional mineral and group 3 hydrocracked "synthetic" oils, but why is it that manufacturers recommend using the latter in turbocharged engines? Like in subaru's manual, it specifically written there to use synthetic oil. I looked at the specs of Subaru's synthetic idemitsu oil its most likely a group 3 oil

And how exactly is 10w better in the Philippines? 5w40 pa, I know its better for heat and aggressive driving

So what can you recommend third party engine oil for the 5th gen CRV diesel? Stock is 0W-16.

Honda Oil, Ravenol EFE or FEH has low Noack volatilty rating. The latter 2 are PAO synthetics, too.
