I'm under the impression that some people here may have confused Fully Synthetic oil for Boutique Oil

    di ako nag google

ang pagkaintindi ko sa "boutique" oil is that your car's engine requires motor oil that's so special and rare that producers don't bother to make in large quantities coz the market for it is too small

sadya bine-blend ang oil na yan by specialty shops kaya "boutique"

kung motor oil mo nabibibili sa auto supply / gas station / shopee hindi boutique yan

    kahit synthetic pa yan

Yup, this is more accurate. I guess the term evolved to also mean expensive/exotic oils, kahit na available sa retail channels.

by the way, no one here recently mentioned boutique oils so I dunno what's that about.

150,000+ km. never had engine flush. honda oil, havoline formula, valvoline premium conventional, all the cheapest 10w30 oils less than 1k. 6mo oci, then later on 1yr oci

Amsoil's Signature Series oil, now that's a different story.
I tend to agree with the other posts here, I consider boutique oils as those expensive oils with unique properties or other gimmick like extended drain interval or for intended for racing. Some are even not API certified like Redline and Amsoil Signature

they're not api certified coz some components exceed api limits, in an effort to extend drain intervals

but yeah amsoil OE isn't boutique (it's a post 2006 product). in fact there's nothing special about OE, it's just some run of the mill oil. pure group3 bitog says it's about the same caliber as supertech. in other words you're paying about twice for this mediocre oil. in that way you could consider it boutique LOL

i'd consider PAO as boutique, as well as GTL gas to liquid like those expensive shell oils

Try running conventional mineral oil instead of group 3 hydrocracked oil in a modern turbocharged engine and see how it goes.

plenty of api SP group3 that are cheaper than amsoil OE. maybe even better than OE SP na yan pang turbo GDI

but that's not my problem my NA engines are going to be fine w/ Accel. i think i'll buy more of those. 1000 pesos, 4 quarts, made in USA by warren. can't go wrong

the cheapest group3 SP in my mini-stash is repsol leader. official api certs, look it up in the database. i paid 1950 for two 4L jugs, cashback is 150

this pricing is in line w/ supertech/accel pricing so i expect it to be about the same quality. plenty of other options between this and OE pricing.

Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?
