    Cheapest way to. Maintain is get regular motor oil, which costs about 1/3 the price of synthetics and replace every 6 months, together with oil filter. Your engine and wallet will be happy.

    a 10w30 degrades to a thinner weight ... once it shears to ultra low visco... hths falls to less than 2.. film strength goes to a cliff of no return [emoji28]

    Do you mean sir that a mineral oil 15w40 gives more protection than a synthetic 10w-30?
    Same 5,000kms OCI.

    Just to share:
    Based on my experience, oil change + diesel fuel expense is almost the same when using 15w40 or 10w30 because of the latter's positive effect on fuel economy. My car runs +0.5kms/liter when using 10w30 oil.

    But I'm planning to keep my car for at least 7 years/300,000kms so protection is my priority. Hence, my question above.
