Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

i'm about to have my 10K pms soon for the hilux. planning to switch to FS, if i have the oil change at 20K do i need to change the oil filter * 15K?
though it's not daily driven, mostly from cainta to san juan/qc and forth routes(short trips?)but it's the traffic somewhat i worried most.
idk if i can call it a low mileage car, 10K at around 1.5yrs?

If you opt for fs on the 10k service, Toyota will ask you to come back on the 15k for oil filter change and top off. Top off is usually less than one liter. You can opt for mineral oil. I think someone will contradict me here lol.

There are two kinds of maintenance interval. Normal duty(normal condition) and severe duty(severe condition). If you open your owners manual, you will find what usage you have. Philippine traffic falls under severe.

For top off you can opt fs bro. Keep the remaining bottle they wont use 1liter.

Sa diesel mas maaga kaya sa innova mga 10,000kms or 6months palit ko na. Sa relatives ko natutunan yung fleetguard, baldwin, donaldson at fram ultra pag galing america nabibigyan ako. Kaya pati 370z kapatid ko naka heavy duty oil filter na din. Ayaw na gumamit ng vic

*midnytwarrior: Actually since you already use FS oil, that's good enough for 12 months na. Low mileage car din ang sa amin. Driven less than 2,500 km per year. We use FS oil and oil change interval is every 12 months. Of course, wala naman masama if you want to change oil every 6 months kahit FS oil na gamit mo, unnecessary cost nga lang.

As mentioned, baka hinde pa umabot ng 500KM yun sasakyan by the end of the year. Most ng mga experience ko lalo na pag low mileage ang saksayan (although with mineral oils) eh mas nagkaka-sludge. Kaya for peace of mind, 3 months. And if hinde pa talaga mag aral mag drive yun kids at wifey ko baka next na byahe ng sasakyan eh 7 KMs(distance from house to casa) by September.

How do we reconcile that with Honda's recommended OCI at 10k kms or 6 months using Genuine Honda Oil (GHO). GHO not being specific as to mineral, SS or FS. The SA will give an automatic quote using FS but will use Mineral if the client says so and will still send you off with a smile and reminder to see you till the next 10k kms or 6 months.

Happened in my case, and the mineral oil used was even SL rated while the manual says minimum SM. I did not know these technicalities before.

Follow what is recommended oil in the manual. If hinde naka indicate ang SL (atleast) and SM and/or above ang recommended then the manufacturer wants or recommends that specific API rating. Last experience ko, when I called the SA who attended my car(take note long distance call), nun tinanong ko if nakapagbukas na sya ng makina eh hinde makasagot. Meaning most SA nowadays (I'm not saying all) are for selling/marketing.

Whether you use the car or not, oil that's in your engine inevitably gets contaminated, and that contamination breaks down the oil, reducing its lubricating capabilities.

As has been said above, you cannot compare US miles with local miles - our traffic and climate conditions are much more severe than what they experience there.

Noone's stopping you from your once a year oil change, but I've talked to many mechanics who've said that they've seen much dirtier low-mileage engines than those that are daily driven, simply because owners think that they don't need to change their oil regularly because they rack up very few kilometers annually.

So one guy wants to replace fs engine oil 4x a year kasi naka store ang car.

Kailangan talaga magaling ka mag-isip sa mga yan. Kasi mahirap mabola lalo na dito sa pilipinas exaggerated oil change interval lalo na hyundai casa. Gusto lang ng manufacturer at oil companies oil change palagi kahit hindi naman kailangan.

Oo nga pala yung sa relatives ko 20 years na sa business na taxi, rent a car and talyer. Innova diesel ko pala 150,000kms total kilometers every 10,000kms palit oil or 6months. Yung cefiro ko once a year oil change kasi less hindi abot 10,000 kilometers. 180,000 total kilometers.
