hey guys, why are thicker oils recommended for older engines in general? Does that mean pwede magbago ang recommended oil as the car gets older? Is it to protect and prolong?

Sa pilipinas lng ata popular yan. Most asean countries have been using 5w30 since the 2000s.

Lots of good stories about xw20 over 200k miles sa bitog forums but these are from the americas.

The shift will be lighter viscosities in the future..

Ang assumption sa atin kasi ay may leaks na ang old engines. Low viscosity oils (thinner) is able to seep easily out of the engine through the leaks. Kung okay naman ang seals ng engine, wala naman siguro masama gumamit ng thinner oil.

Recommended oil for an engine does not change IMO. But bear in mind that higher rating for oil is usually backward compatible.
I see, thanks. Nakita ko kasi to:
    product-recomender-helix-final.jpg

when I read the article ung Hx3 kasi 20w-50 yan. I've used Gulf 20w-50 before by mistake, and grabe ang ingay ng makina. Performance was still the same, sobrang ingay lang talaga, hindi tama. Nung nagpalit ako, sabi nung mekaniko ang lapot daw sobra LOL.

Many owners miss changing their oil at the right interval.

Hence a fully synthetic oil is good recommendation. Even if they miss the change by 3-12months at least their engine will be useable.

Affordable mineral oils dont last as long.

Hx7 pinaka maganda sa list mo bro

Sure ka ba magnatec nilagay? Did you see green or white bottles? White ones are castrol gtx and are mineral. The magnatec oils are very good. Ano kaya viscosity ng nilagay ng mechanic?

Most fs oils conform to different requirements. Engine oils are of diesel and gasoline varieties.

In your owners manual it will say which type of oil it requires.

Question is... is your tucson diesel or gas?

Just to be more accurate, there are motor oils that are designed for both gas or Diesel engines. These would have an API marking such as SM/CF. In simplest terms, it means that it is suitable for gas engines that require an API SM oil as well as Diesel engines that require API CF. Assumption here is that you're already using the correct viscosity.

"New oil more often" - more harm than good. Everytime you drain and fill doesnt protect the areas (where oil should have been) during engine start/ignition. A brief discussion of this was in bitog forums. Wish I bookmarked it. Cant find it anymore.

Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?
