April 4th, 2018 03:20 AM #5392Question: The last oil that we used is Shell Helix Hx7 5w40.
I just realized now that the manual recommends 5w30.
Would there be any implications by using 40 over 30? And can I simply go back to 30 on my next change oil?
TIA

April 4th, 2018 05:25 PM #5397So I went to a Shell Gasoline station near us to inquire about 5w30.
They told me that 5w30 is already phased out and is has been replaced by 0w40. They keep insisting that it is better for my car.
Any thoughts on the 0w40?

April 4th, 2018 05:51 PM #54000w na talaga ang uso ngayon. I think I’ve read an article that says the “real” synthetics nowadays are yung mga 0w oils. Kahit ang mga used oil analysis, in favor talaga sa 0w oils. Wala naman problema sa 0w40 since 40 yung last number, sakto padin sa climate natin. Most of the new cars now are designed around 0w oils for fuel efficiency and emissions.
What is your car sir?
