Is it worth it to change to a K&N drop in air filter compared to using the OEM paper filters? I am usually just a city driver, pero if it can save me gas mileage then sounds good to me. Or is it just a myth?

Not worth it in my opinion. Those filters are expensive (but lasts longer than stock though) and requires oiling from time to time, too much oil and you risk fouling up your MAF sensor resulting in costly repairs. I'd stick to the stock filter, very easy to clean (using pressurized air) and not that expensive to replace if needed.
Oiling isn't dangerous as long as you do it properly.
It's not worth it buying the filter for fuel economy. K&N doesn't endorse its products on the basis of fuel economy, because results can and do vary.
If you're buying it for extra power and the convenience, then it's worth it. Otherwise, forget it.

What about in terms of investment, since re-usable sya? Mas makakatipid ba in the long run, or masyadong matagal bago mabawi?
Parang matagal ata bago mabawi. Ang K&N ata kasi nasa P4000++ yan eh yung paper OEM filters P300 lang ata so that means 10 paper filter yan and if you change paper filters every 10K km as recommended by Toyota eh di 100,000km yun which is to be honest a long long time...

hinde worth it ang k&n drop-in filter kasi wala naman improvements s engine or sa gas mileage tapos mas marami pang dumi ang papasok s engine. ang maganda lang sa k&n reusable sya yun lang. the best parin yung paper filter

3.5k bili ko sa drop in 1k yung OEM filter sa casa. Every 20k ang palit so matagal tagal ko pa bago mabawi. Meron ding slight improvement dahil pinag papalit ko yung drop in at oem filter parang mas sakal pagka oem filter. Sa tingin ko advantage lang is pwede mo na hugasan yung filter kahit naka 10k kms ka pa lang so parang brand new ulit siya.
Pano ba sya huhugasan? As in soap and water or meron pang oil na sinasabi nila? Sorry 1st time ko kasi eh... Main concern ko parin talaga fuel economy and if wala naman tulong in that regard baka stick na ako sa OEM Toyota Denso air filters...
May cleaning kit na nabibili. Meron syang degreaser at filter Oil. Pag nilinis mo siya after matanggal ng dumi color gray yung filterelemet. After ma dry spray ka ng filter oil na color red. Kaya nilagyan ng color yung oil is para ma determine mo kung ever yung pag spray ng oil
for me not worth it para gumastos nang 3-4k for an air filter. (although it really added HP on mid-high RPMs on my advie)
anyway, ako binababad ko lang sa water and soap yung K&N filter ko (open type nga lang), tapos patuyuin and then kabit na ulit. (for the meantime use the stock airfilter habang pinapatuyo)

A K&N drop-in is worth between 3-5 hp versus stock paper, depending on the car.
The cleaning kit is not difficult to use. It's extra expense to buy the kit, but it lasts for a long while. (you don't wash that often). I spray lightly, then spray a cloth and use that to rub the oil into the filter well. I dry it off a bit before putting the filter back in.
The problem is... even if you're cleaning it, the filter's performance will still degrade over time, due to dirt and exposure to heat... so you'll still replace it, eventually.
It's not an investment... it's just a power-adder. Nice to have, but not many people can "feel" the difference such a minor mod makes.

As Niky said, you have to clean, re oil it properly by using the K&N Recharger Kit -if not well sayang lang as you will not get the full benefit of it.
Really depends on the owner whether to replace the OEM on not. For example if the OEM filter costs about 2K+ like the current Monterothen replacing it with K&N washable filter is an excellent option for a lifetime use. K&N Filter is good for 50,000 miles in the USA before cleaning / recharging.
Honestly, in my 3.2 Monty it goes from 7.6-7.8 to 8.4-8.6 kms/L on city (tipid mode). the plus factor is the added HP when you need it.

Kaya nga depende kung mura lang yung OEM paper filter, and you don't really need the added response then not worth it. Like the case of my Crosswind nasa Php500 lang OEM and less than Php200 ang replacement and i don't really need if ever meron man madagdag na gain kaya di ko na nilagyan ng K&N - baka lalo pa bumilis eh![]()
Suggestion ko lang kung gusto mong walang langis na nilalagay pag na linis mo na K&N filter gamitin mo iyong dry flow filter ng AEM pag marumi na hanginan mo lang para maalis lang alikabok at dumi .
