Here's mine on my Dmax...
I also have a similar one on my Pajero. In my honest opinion, it is worth it but I wouldn't recommend it if you drive daily in extremely dusty conditions. It adds power to my acceleration. Some don't like it because they find it too cumbersome when its time to "recharge" or clean it but I like to work my way around the engine.
Don't be surprised if there will be a lot of contradictions about aftermarket filters like K&N because it is a never ending debate against stock paper filters.
In the end it is really up to you and what you want to achieve and expect from this filter.

I'm in the Visayas po kasi but then it ain't that complex to modify.
It's a 20 minute job. We simply took out the big stock enclosure and secured the extra brackets that you see. I had to make simple bracket found below it that I screwed to one of those fender bolts under it. That's it.
This is to keep it from sagging below and also helps lessen shaking.
You'll be surprised how much space is available when you take out the stock filter housing!
Halos lahat ng kilala ko in our town na may Dmax is using this cone type from K&N.
Aren't diesels run via fuel input and not throttle input? Diesels ang alam ko they take in as much air as they need and regulate power via fuel input. That's why people claim that these higher airflow filters have no effect on diesels.
I haven't tried them on mine but some have. Noticeable difference is the noise, for one. There was a thread about these and the K&N types with larger pores also allowed more dirt in compared to the stock paper filters.
One potential problem I see with this set up is when you ford rivers or deep water.
The open nature of the filter makes it succeptible to inhaling water.
Another drawback is that you can't use it with snorkels.
But then again, if your rigs are street queens, then it should be no problem
My two cents![]()
sa dmax ko din 'to,,bahala na kayo humusga basta feel ko acceleration difference...

I have k & n installed on my diesel ride, there's noticeable improvement in acceleration but it is much noisier.
So that means that you guys have a cone type.
There are some who prefer the drop-in type for less hissing noise.
K&N has lots of replacement filter for any rides. (if you live in the u.s)
haven't tried one, but I will prefer replacement type. so no mods needed. most intake tubes kasi are hidden. replacing it with open cone type will inhale hot air.
mbeige has a point. but mod-adding air pressure in diesel turbos gives extra power though. so I guess, maybe only diesel turbo rides will benefit this filter...

I found the thread, it's on another forum (w123 section full of diesel models). I hope you guys find it informative.

much better if drop-in type K&N filter na lang ang ilagay. it will still get the same cold air but with a less restriction. cone-type filter is much ok if it is routed outside the engine bay to get the cooler air. thus, more power, but not that much..
i tried using one on my 100s ive notivced pag humahataw ako mas lumalakas akin ng diesel and mas maingay. pero pag cruising driving lang ako pareho lang ang consumption sa oem filter. mejo maingay lang sa una but yo'll get used to it.
i'm using K&N drop-in filter for my everest (hawak ko at the pic, at the right is the stock air filter)
noticable difference is faster acceleration & a little bit noisier when at 2,500 rpm or higher. fuel consumption is the same.![]()
From the link I posted:
For those who claimed faster acceleration, are you sure it's really faster or just psychological from the increased noise that makes you think you're going faster? Just having a discussion, not arguing. However, if a filter is using "better airflow" as their marketing tool, remember this....Does it flow better? At very high airflow volumes, probably. BUT, our engines CAN'T flow that much air unless super-modified, so what is the point? The stock filter will flow MORE THAN ENOUGH AIR to give you ALL THE HORSEPOWER the engine has to give. And this remains true until the filter is dirty enough to be recognizeable. At that point performance will decline somewhat. Replace the filter and get on with it.![]()
Which reminds me, I have yet to change the filter on mine. I wonder how it looks like now. :p
its worth, fc the same but runs faster very useful in overtaking and long driving...mas malakas resistenya if compare to human because of substantial air flow than stock...
yes, drop in yong sa akin...regarding to your concern check this site http://www.knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx hope this help....
filtration test here: ac delco is not included though...
