applicable din ba ito sa mga automatic cars? medyo malakas kasi ang jerk nung sasakyan if hindi pa normal yung idling ng sasakyan tapos isi-shift from P to D. medyo ramdam yung jerk pag dumaan sa R.

As a side, I still think running the engine at idle in the morning before driving, say for 5 or so minutes will not make much difference anyway because of the time spent by the engine idling while caught in traffic. All the scenarios are for an ideal setting but once the car rolls out on the streets, all bets are off.
Kasi after reading all those idling misconceptions and truths, baka naman isipin na okay pala yung "get inside, start and drive" na agad only to mull later while stopped askew on the road which one would be cheaper to call, a mechanic or a tow truck.
I'd say start the car for a few minutes before going off just to "hear and feel" the engine for any abnormalities, observe any warning indicator suddenly illuminating rather than being caught offguard by a broken alternator or steering belt or leaking coolant in the middle of a morning traffic.

Nagcheck ako kanina ng spark plugs ko. Mag 9months old na at 3k kms na ang natakbo ng kotse with the plugs, halos puro idle lang kasi yun eh. Minsan nga more than 1hr idle at stucked pa lagi sa traffic. Maganda pa yung plugs at maputi pa...
Is it really bad for the engine at nakakadamage? I doubt. Wala pa kasi problems ang engine ko. 14yrs old, almost 115k kms on the odo.

If you have older diesel cars, a minute or two idling would make it run better from cold starts (example - sa umaga). More than two minutes means you have other problems.
Same with gas. With some older cars the driver believes it will run better when warmed up. Usually this is true because your oil and oil pump are so low in the sump that it takes a little warming up to get it up to the piston area. A cheaper way is to make sure your oil is closer to HOT spot from a cold engine (unless specified in the manual na dapat turn on mo engine before reading the dipstick) thus it reaches the pistons faster.
