As a side, I still think running the engine at idle in the morning before driving, say for 5 or so minutes will not make much difference anyway because of the time spent by the engine idling while caught in traffic. All the scenarios are for an ideal setting but once the car rolls out on the streets, all bets are off.
Kasi after reading all those idling misconceptions and truths, baka naman isipin na okay pala yung "get inside, start and drive" na agad only to mull later while stopped askew on the road which one would be cheaper to call, a mechanic or a tow truck.
I'd say start the car for a few minutes before going off just to "hear and feel" the engine for any abnormalities, observe any warning indicator suddenly illuminating rather than being caught offguard by a broken alternator or steering belt or leaking coolant in the middle of a morning traffic.
