Engine coolant: Is water enough?

Or do I have to go get those commercially (Prestone etc.) available coolants? They come in different colors ano ba ok?

Coolants have anti-rust and anti-boilover additives. Typically any will do. Just check how much water you have to mix with the coolant. Typical wuold be 50/50 mix but there are some that might require a different ratio.
