I was taught that after a long drive, specifically in high temperature weather, it's a good idea to raise the hood in order to allow more engine heat to dissipate faster. Especially since there is no more airflow going into the engine bay where temps can sometimes go higher when the coolant is no longer circulating as well.

It also allows the plastics, rubber hoses and other components to cool down more quickly so that they last longer.

On the topic though, the belt does look shiny and not wet. If it's wet then you need to check your gaskets sir.
