Nung college ako (box type) until I graduated + first few years of work (Corolla E100) ako lang nag-maintain ng car ko and never ko sya pinalitan...

Check ko nga service receipt ko next time. hehehe

re-cycling the old washer does not mean, it will leak.
but the chances of it leaking, are higher.

we used to recycle ours, too.
we used to put in a little extra oomph, to avoid leak.
