    Hi everyone,

Does drain plug "washer" is really required to replace after a change oil? The reason is, I inquired a non-casa shop and ask for quotation of a change oil. To my surprise, it cost 90 pesos for the washer alone. Akala ko makakatipid ako ng onti kapag hindi casa, since they also charge me for drain plug washer everytime na magpapa change oil ako hehe.

90 pesos is a small amount, but hey katumbas na rin un ng isang budget lunch meal.

    TIA!

for an item that normally costs pennies, 90 bucks is highway rubbery.
some replacement oil filters even include it in their package, free.

chances of leak are less, if one used a new washer and not re-use the old washer.

I do my oil changes. the washer gets damaged over time even with the right torque anyways. replace it every after oil change(6 month interval)

Those are crush washers designed to get compressed to maintain a good seal with the pan. Used ones might not seal well anymore. That's why it's prudent to just replace them every oil change.

Palitan tuwing oil change. Bilhin mo sa casa kung gusto mo. Wala pa 50 pesos isa nyan.

Or bumili ka sa lazada. Murang mura lang. Nasa 200 isang pack of 10

hyundai uses aluminum washers. this is better for high temp applications imo.

we use copper washers for high pressure gas systems. for low pressure nylon/fiber washers.

It wouldn’t hurt to change it, but I’ve been reusing them for many years without any issues.

I buy bulk from Lazada and replace it every oil change. A 10-pack just costs around P150.

    It costs 2.4k.
How's the long term reliability of it?

Perhaps, this makes sense on those diy oil change people as it would save "labor"' cost.

But then, masarap din naman maupo at magkape habang pinapanood mo na may gumagawa sa sasakyan mo. [emoji3]
