In my opinion it would be better to change your oil kahit di mo pa naabot 10k. :D

I usually don't follow the month/time intervals if i don't go way over it... but 1 year and 6 months with the same oil (especially if it's mineral based), i think you should go for a change oil na.

yup...correct. having a change oil din naman is cheaper than replacing your engine eh. i think it is best not to go with the distance required in your manual.

Di rin maganda kung magpapapalit-palit ka ng oil from fully-synthetic to mineral then to fully synthetic again.

    this might also help: http://www.caltexoils.com/Caltex+Internet/Any+Questions/?fbmenu=true

Question: The recommended oil change period for my car is 10,000 km. However, I only do short trips and it takes me over a year to do this mileage. Should I change my oil before I reach 10,000 kms?

Answer: Yes the oil should be changed earlier. The reason is that the regular short trips with stops and starts, particularly in cold conditions, is the most severe service that an oil and an engine must withstand. Short trips means that the engine remains relatively cool and so contaminants such as water condensation and unburned fuel can enter the oil sump. Also, the greatest amount of engine wear occurs at cold start-up.

In order to set reasonable oil change periods, the manufacturer quotes both a time and a distance figure and the oil should be changed at whichever comes first.

jun, i also have a 2k1 civic, every 10K ako magpa-service and mga 10 months ang interval. i use full synthetic oil (caltex havoline).

sa honda shaw and honda qc pwede ka magdala ng sarili mong oil kung ayaw mo sa kanila bumili. my ofcmate had his 2k1 serviced at honda manila and they recommended mobil1 oil.

jun, mag pa oil change ka na. Pareho tayo ng situation, I've had my last oil change Nov 2001 16500kms mileage ko noon, sa ngayon 20400 pa lang mileage ko after 1 year.
