Nwebie here. just bought a corolla gl 1.6 ae92 90 mdl from a friend. when i showed it to another friend he opened the engine oil cap while the engine is running and pressed his palm over the oil inlet mouth to test daw if the engine is still good. sad to say, droplets of oil manifested in his palm and he said the engine is having a "blow by" at hindi na daw magtatagal. how is this true mga guru eh maganda at pino pa naman manakbo ang oto. dapat daw hindo tumatalsik ang langis pag binuksan ang bibig ng makina....request advice here. thank you sirs...

Oil will naturally come up... what you need to see is how strong it is... if there's pressure under the cap, that means air from the cylinder is entering the oil system... which indicates blow-by.

A more accurate test would be a compression or leakdown test to assess how well sealed your piston rings still are.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Tama si Nicky. Oil will naturally come out specially for that model. Meron din ako ganyan sasakyan before. Bago ko binili may kasama akong mekaniko at binuksan din nya oil cap habang tumatakbo. Tumalsik langis.

pwede rin i test yan through battery readings ,called electronic relative compression test . and it only takes a few minutes to assess the engine mechanical.

i was not convince because the car was running good - - no black emission and relatively good fuel consumption... read in another forum about this PCV system... had my PCValve replaced and problem solved...

.... TIA

for a gl corolla engine - this naturally spews oil because the scissor valves are near the cap. it differs form a 2e engine because of the location of the valves

In any SERVITEK SERVICE CENTER I presume they can conduct compression test.

I agree. And another signs of loose compression if U're not a professional mechanic, the idling of the vehicle is ERATIC. Meaning, sometimes normal afterwards low or high. Next is the tail pipe of the vehicle, a white smoke is coming out. The ERATIC idling of the vehicle is very noticeable when U switch on the airconditioning unit of your vehicle. To the extent the engine will die down. Furthermore, use also vacuum tester. Said tester will also help U and confirm the condition of ur vehicle.

for info lang po,hindi blow by ang tumatalsik na oil sa oil cap ng ae92.there is a worm gear located underneath that cap kaya natural na tatalsik oil kapag binuksan.hindi pro na mechanic yang nagsasabi ng ganyan.sa dip stick test pag me tumalsik na oil un ang blow by since gas engines are low compression engines.
