wag nalang magextend to be safe IMO.
    (see pictures above)

its your car, you know better.

the most common causes of heavy sludging and varnishing are:
like t2erns said, clogged pcv valve
    extended oil change interval
too cold of an engine from short trips
    thermostat removed or stuck open
    poor oil quality
blowby gases from worn out rings (not likely cause of this particular car)
overcooling from constantly on radiator fan

On some engines, you can safely exchange oil change intervals by using synthetic oil.

But that's only if the engine is designed to take advantage of it. Synthetic oils are NOT meant to extend oil change intervals for motors not built for extended intervals, as so:

Can you go longer between oil changes if you use a synthetic blend or full synthetic motor oil?
Synthetic or synthetic blended oils are not intended to extend oil change intervals. These oils are recommended for use in harder working engines and to assist with gas mileage, not to extend service intervals beyond what the manufacturer recommends.
    Valvoline.com > FAQs > Motor Oil Car FAQs > Full-Synthetic Motor Oil

For most engines, the change interval is programmed based on how long it takes not only for the oil to degrade, but for contaminants to accumulate in the oil. Sitting in traffic speeds up the build up of contaminants and the shearing of the oil itself. If you drive in Manila all he time, stick to the "severe use" service interval, 5,000 kms. If you drive outside the city all the time, with mostly highway cruising, you can extend the interva by using synthetic oil.

Either way, you have to keep checking the condition of the oil. Don't rely on the oil lasting the whole 5k... especially if the car is old or stressed (hot traffic).

    Hi Niky,

For those who go around the city most of the time, mas ok ba na gumamit ako ng Fully Synthetic oil than Mineral Oil ? On my next OCI kasi I was planning to use FS na.

I rarely go OOT. Siguro sa 5000Kms duration, mga three or four times max na. Although whenever given the chance, I kind of give the engine an exercise to remove carbon.

    Thanks!

Don't think it's necessary, but it helps with smooth running and economy, so if you can afford it... why not? ;)

I think around Php 600 ang cleaning of oil pan and oil strainer but not sure since it was packaged with the oil change and head gasket replacement. Shop is Turbo Cafe at Fairview. You could probably find some shops with cheaper charges. I just made sure about the shop since it involved opening the engine itself. Mine is around 130K + mileage.

Could anyone tell me where the PCV valve is located? Baka clogged na din due to neglect . TIA

klaruhin ko lang po sir, base sa sludge na nakita, pinalinis mo lang ang oil pan/filter, tapos palit ng gasket, tapos OK na po ulit? Di po na overhaul?

scheduled ako for change of gasket sir dahil may oil leak ang engine sir. Tapos nung pagbukas sir, nakita na puro sludge na so pina linis ko na din yung oil pan. Buti na lang hindi pa na sira ang engine because of sludge. Ngayon, naka top 1 sdo ako for hi detergency. Hopefully, masave pa yung engine .

Did you, after discovering this, asked your dad what was his pm practice? We acquired a 4 year old lite ace back in 1998 and I used and maintained it for 9 years. At more than 200k km odo, i had it top overhauled prior to selling it in 2007. There was no sludging with my religious practice of 5k km pm using only mineral oil.

Unfortunately no, baka magaway pa pag nalaman niya na may problema especially since he knows that its his fault. So I'm more concerned sa remedio na lang . I'll probably be asking the shop to examine the PCV Valve baka puno na din ng sludge I'll post a picture kung ano itsura haha

you might be wrong with that. ang mga jeep owners, conscious sa OCI. dahil sa mahal ng parts ng diesel engine. every 30 days ang change oil nyan at delo multigrade ang kadalasang gamit. dapat kondisyon palagi ang pampasadanag sasakyan.
