    baka dahil...

when we buy battery from motolite outlet, we know exactly how old that new battery is: "newborn". thus the 21 months warranty.
when we buy new car, we do not know how long that so-called new battery has been languishing in the car we just bought. hence only 12 months warranty.

    well,
these lead-acid car batteries generate explode-able hydrogen gas, especially when overcharging.
the possibility is mentioned in numerous internet articles.
so i suppose it's true, for all lead-acid car batteries, bar none.

    the question is,
    "how often?"

I remember reading somewhere that even sealed batteries still lose electrolyte (water) to evaporation. This creates space where hydrogen gas can accumulate during charging.

The recommendation is to still service the battery (even if it's "maintenance-free"). Kahit every oil change lang. You can pop open the covers and check the electrolyte level.
If it's low then top up with distilled water which makes the battery last longer and removes space where hydrogen can build-up.
