February 21st, 2014 12:02 PM #1Anybody has similar experience? I replaced my glow plug 1 month ago. Then yesterday, bigla hard starting na. Tapos kaninang umaga, ayaw na umandar. Bakit kaya ang bilis napundi ng glow plug ko?

first, be sure na original ang glow plugs na nabili mu at hindi fake... there are a lot of fakes... 1 week lang sira na or even shorter.
second, try this, start your engine sa umaga, assuming na all glow plugs are working, there will be two scenarios kung kelan mag off ang glow plugs mo after starting;
1. the glow plug trigger is dependent on coolant sensor(hangat malamig pa coolant your glow plug will still be on) upon reaching normal temps, mag off na glow plug mo. " to test this put a test light sa terminal ng glow plug mo at check mo pag nasa normal na temp na ang engine ay dapat mawala na ilaw test light meaning off na ang glow plug"
2. you vehicle has a timer that controls the glow plug. ibig sabihin every time na start mo engine regardless nang engine temp ay mag o-off siya given a specified time... you can again use a test light conencted to your glow plug bar/terminal while you time it.
the longest i know is 15 mins at cold start... so dapat hindi na siya naka on after that..
*if your vehicle is equipped with a control unit, there could also be a chance that the control unit is malfunctioning already...
*the glow plug relay can also malfunction, an electrician can test this easily.
*the most common cause of glow plug failure is (considering na hindi fake ang unit)
1. over voltage
2. excessive glow time
meh mga substandard na NGK glow plugs out there...also some fakes.
personally merong 1 week/ 2 weeks/ 1 month sira na....
hit and miss ang pag bili.

Excessive glow plug 'On' time yan. Make sure tama ung reading ng temp gauge mo. Kapag lower than normal yan at laging nasa 1/4 lang ung temp reading, sira ung temperature sensor mo which also turns off the glow plug when a certain temperature is reached to prevent burn out.

glow plug main function is to help start the engine nang diesel when cold...
and provide emission control during initial start up dahil mataas emission ng diesel during cold starts.
wala naman mangyayari masama sa engine operation per se kahit nakabukas indefinitely yung glow plug ( sana nga meh glow plug na kaya tumagal ng ganyan)
ang mangyayari eh masisira ang glow plug (pundi agad)...
and it will put a strain sa electrical system mo, because each glow plugs eat 10 amps each on average, times 4 glow plugs= 40amps, that's half of an alternator output...
and if your glow plugs, or any part of it breaks and drops to your combustion chamber it will be a catastrophic failure.
