    actually, even the maintenance-frees are still de-tubig.
    it is just that, the manufacturer designed a long cover at the top, to hide the filler holes. if you snap off that cover (it is designed to be snapped on and off), the filler holes become evident. an ordinary philips screwdriver opens them easy.

    also, batteries degrade faster, if kept in un-charged condition for longer periods of time. it seems, the chemical compound necessary to hold the charge, degrades if kept in its uncharged condition and falls off the holder grid. keeping the battery fully charged minimizes this scenario. hence the logic of trickle charging.
