Wishful thinking. No, prices of gasoline & diesel will not go down simply because some cars will be powered by electric batteries.
Currently available electric cars (here and abroad) still the basic problem of either they have a short traveling range per charge or costs more than the equivalent petrol/diesel fueled car.
Another major problem is the long charging time for most electric cars. Usually takes hours (or overnight) to get a useful charge level.

The range for electric v ehicles in the Philippines, currently is between 250k (G-Car) to 350-500k+ (e-jeepney and foreign multi-passenger vehicles). But these are open cars, much like the Norkis Spider. The Gee-Whiz was supposed to be sold here with full weather-proofing and cabin air, but it just costs waaaay too much... probably over 800k for a two-seat car smaller than a Smart.
I've got contacts for two or three suppliers. The G-Car people didn't respond to my e-mail, though... and one of those suppliers promised electrics last year, but still haven't delivered.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
