Do you see more "old school" classics on the road now?

Is it just me or are there more classic, old school and muscle cars on the streets nowadays?

Just in front of where i work is a red 72 240z na mukhang ginagamit pang color code kasi once a week siya naka park sa slot niya. it just showed up 6 months ago.

Beetles alone make up for a lot of sightings.

A few weeks back may tumabi sa akin na 67-68 camaro convertible na black sa buendia stoplight. as well as a TR2 and TR4 on separate occasions. MGs, alfas, the list is endless. And last saturday nga lang i was on NLEX with a fellow tsikoteer at may nakita siyang 63-67 Vette racing past us. Tinuro nga sa akin.

Another tsikoteer was sending mms's from Baguio last new year of his sightings. May impala, mustang and a convertible...nova i think?

Anyway, before i left the country the only real classics would be at the transhows or motorshows...now they seem to be driven units used for more than just the weekend jaunt. Kasi i see them on normal workdays din.

Is the "old school" car movement gathering speed?

Definitely. I saw a shop full of restored VW beetles while walking along v. luna in qc the other day. When I took a peek inside, I saw a porsche spyder (i assume it was a replica). I wanted to go in for a closer look but chickened out hehe. Ill prolly take a closer look sometime this week when I pass by that area again.

Even if we check the classifieds, old school is definitely making a comeback, from old american iron to old school japanese and euro.

Dito sa province namin, there's a 60's (i think) na black ThunderBird roving around even on regular days.

Another keeper seen around here is the mustard yellow VW Combi, completely restored with original hubcaps, white sidewalls and spare tire sa front!

Yup, please post some pics when you see ones on the road. I don't see much lately, except I think a restored Volkwagen. Even restored 70s Corollas, Galants, Escorts, cruising the streets would be nice to see. :thumbup:

I think the "resto" culture from the US is hitting its stride here, with more and more moneyed (and not-so-moneyed) people apporaching the age where they have more time on their hands, and have the excess money to actually buy that car they wanted when they were kids.

One of the coolest restorations I've ever seen was one of those 70's Isuzu Gemini (the diesel ones) sedans, complete original equipment, including wheels, motoring quietly by without a puff of smoke. Amazing mechanical work there, plus really fresh paint and chrome, and glass so clean you'd swear it was brand new.

anyways, i see this 80 Corona on the office parking lot every day. restored, but modded- nonetheless it's really cool. it does reminds me of the car we had once. and it's nice to see it was been well-kept.

honestly, i'm considering a 80's or early 90's sedan for my very first car of my own. my pick were: Sprinter, Starlet, or 'Macho' Corona or Corona sedan, Corolla DX or liftback. how much would any of these metals would cost? i would prefer a 'restored' but if i can't find one, then it's ok. i also enjoy restoring.

nice choices. these cars are making a comeback. along with L type lancers and celestes. Starlets make for good slalom cars some say. coincidentally all this was a discussion we had this am. it is your choice at how far the restoration undertaken has gone. obviously the more restored the more expensive. kaya sometimes it is better to get a solid runner and do restoration yourself. that way you even choose the colors and all. just have to make sure intact ang interior and almost a 100% complete.

now you can choose to go the route of restore to spec or even restomod. that is the beauty of the hobby.

btw, some say it should be 20years old or more. 10 years old would be stuff from 1997.

also, it is cool to get an older car for fun. enjoy

should that be the case, i'm sure my dad would be very proud to point it out to his grandchildrens: "Look, here is what once a best seller during its heydays". While I, on the other hand, let them (children) realize that these cars are a piece of history and i intend to keep it that way and hand it down to them to continue its legacy.

should that be the case, i'm sure my dad would be very proud to point it out to his grandchildrens: "Look, here is what once a best seller during its heydays". While I, on the other hand, let them (children) realize that these cars are a piece of history and i intend to keep it that way and hand it down to them to continue its legacy.

you are more than welcome. one civic that is gaining cult status and may soon be on its way to being a classic here is the two door hatchback. ever notice how they hold a high price for a second hand car?

Don't be envious. There's a lot of nice V8s in Manila and surrounding areas. They're just scattered around. A V8 carshow with prices might bring them all out. Well, V8s and other classic cars.
