June 23rd, 2009 03:01 PM #33My daily drive is 80-90% restored 1983 Corolla GL. It was the first (2nd hand) car I bought with my own money and I really take care of it more than I take care of my "97 Civic. I work in an ad agency somewhere near Gbelt and I used to park along Salcedo (I now park in MCS kasi it's cheaper :D). I like driving it kasi wala siya masyadong kapatid unlike my Honda na andaming relatives sa roads kahit saan ka lumingon. :D

June 30th, 2009 02:28 AM #34yeah i've seen more VW's now than i did in the 90's. I'm also happy to see fully restored Ford Escorts doing car shows and even slaloms. I wish i could restore one myself
Keep the restoration going guys! keep it up!

old school fan here myself. may talyer dito malapit samin who loves old schools. the owner of the talyer is a former nissan casa chief mechanic in san fernando, pampanga. he owns: ford 1920's roadster (2 door, cabrio, but with a nissan straight 6 - kasi mahirap na ma restore yung orig engine), toyota celica 1972, red 240Z 1975, porsche 944, ford mach 1 V8 (fully restored - all orig). will take some fotos pag may time ako. i love to go there for repairs para ma usisa mga classics nya. mura na magaling pa. grabe ang ganda ng tunog ng ford 1920's roadster nya, kasi nga cefiro engine na with slashed side mufflers!

Rarity makes a thing classic. Kung rare na siya nuong inilabas di mas maganda. As time goes by kahit yung common noon nagiging rare din. But a rare car during it's time becomes even more valuable. An old car is just an old car.
Something like the Corolla Hatchback (i remember this car way back the mid 80s). Sayang binenta ng dad ko nung 1993. Spotted one again in Heroes Hill QC.
Or the Honda Prelude 1988 I nearly bought. Kaso walang budget pang restore. Kahit lolo na yung kotse lumalaban pa rin sa looks.
Or the Honda Accord 1988 na binenta na namin. Grabe at it's age it is still doing 10-12 km per liter.

July 23rd, 2009 02:35 AM #39yes, there do seem to be more of them now. times are hard...
("you want to spend 700K for a new car so's you won't have to spend 100K to fix your old ride?")
jokjok.
but seriously, i think there's still the same old number as before, maybe less. it's just that, they stand out more now...
