It's not just a desperate move. It's a prelude to US-style incentives in order to increase market share. Ford has been doing these deals for a long time, but none on the scale of the discounts GM is giving. There was an on-paper announcement a few weeks back on a 350k discount on the Tahoe... or the equivalent amount in free gas. This was in parallel with a similar promo done by GM in the US... buy a Chevy SUV, get free gas for a year.
Deals like this helped move a few more units of the slow selling Aveo. GM is hoping it'll do the same for the Lumina.
Pros? If it does give them market share, maybe other automakers will follow.
Cons? Fully aware of the US Market muddle caused by such fire-sale stock-clearing marketing strategies, I doubt the other makers will follow. And if they do... say goodbye to your resale values.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
999K? wow ang mura...
but i'd rather buy a Pre-Owned Nissan Patrol

whenever i see a Lumina, the owner is usually an american... i guess "love your own"![]()
The "Lumina" sold in the RP was a rebadged "chinese facelift" of the Buick Regal manufactured by Shanghai GM. This chinese Buick Regal is based on the 1997-2004 USDM Buick Regal.
Engine was a 2.5 liter OHV V6.
Chinese Buick Regal (RP market Lumina)
USDM Buick Regal (1997-2004)
The original Lumina was a FWD mid-size/large American sedan produced introduced in 1989 as a 1990 model.
The second generation Lumina was introduced for the 1995 model year...
...this was replaced by the FWD Impala which was introduced for the 2000 model year.
Outside North America, the "Lumina" name is used for rebadged models like the RWD Chevy Lumina which is a Holden Commodore and the RP market FWD Chevy Lumina which was a chinese Buick Regal.
It was the former GMPh President, James Lim who tried to bring in the aging Shanghai GM models. (Lumina and Venture)
Always thought the RP market Lumina looked cool because it reminds me of those unmarked police cars used by undercover detectives in the US.

Man, you guys are shafted. At least sa ME, the Chevrolet Lumina they get is a re-badged RWD Holden VE Commodore SS with the 6.0L V8 made in Holden's Elizabeth plant here in South Australia. Also the US will be getting the new Commodore re-badged as the Pontiac G8.
nakaka dismaya =(
Katabi pala niya is Caprice. =)
Puwede yan sana rito pero wala namang interes ang GM Philippines dahil sobrang mahal daw.
im driving one bought year 2004 at GM. i agree its for the grey haired people. driving comfort! thumbs up! lots of these running in china.
diba meron nang binebentang chevrolet lumina dito sa atin a few years back?
pero maganda naman yung new model. mukhang medyo conservative lang yung design & not screaming "sporty".![]()
