Using premium fuels are for race cars or luxury cars because of their more "sensitive" engine. In fact, using 95 octane on engines that are already designed to use unleaded fuel will just be more expensive, and in some cases probably dangerous in the long run. Initially most car's engines before the early 90's was designed to use leaded fuel because lead purifies the fuel, lessening the chances of damaging the piston heads. When laws came in to protect mother earth, it required unleaded fuel, which because of impurities, can destroy the pistons. The newer engines have protective linings on the piston heads, which can be, now in this case, damaged by leaded fuel. As a rule, any car before '95 should only use leaded fuel, any car after that can use unleaded
