I have gold boullion coins. I invest in them and so with other precious metals. Value of these coins are pretty much standardized by the ounce or fractions thereof.
I don't believe in gold jewelry as an investment. Selling gold jewelry depends on the amount the buyer is willing to impart. Whereas, gold boullion, if legit, is easier to trade since these are mint certified.
We have a family friend who thinks that jewelry is an investment. They bought jewelries costing them hundreds of thousand of Pesos. When they encountered a financial crisis, they ended up selling their jewelries at less than the amount they bougth it.
Gold and silver boullion, on the other hand, have a system in place to trade these precious metals. Do refer to this site for coin grading
