Thanks sa replies. At least medyo mas alam ko na explain sa tao when same thing happens. Perwisyo talaga mga virus na yan. Ma-advise din namin mga customers na importante talaga ang backup, lalo na its not a good idea na gawin permanent storage mga thumb drives.

The question is, are we (shop owners) really liable pag nawala ang files ng customers while using our computer units? Any opinion would help. Thanks!
    nope. you are not liable.....
wala namang kontrata yung services nyo sa internet cafe nyo na ginaguarantee nyo na walang mangyayari sa files nila eh.
and besides, AVs are not failure proof.

check mo sir baka naka hide lang yung files, usually yan ang ginagawa ng karaniwang virus, tinatago nya yung files..

sa folder options click view, then lagyan mo ng check yung show hidden files and uncheck yung hide system operating files..

just dont forget to reverse back if tapos ka na sir...

some computer owners are not up-to-date. they have to be reminded that their valuable programs and infos can be erased or made un-accessible, in the course of de-bugging.
even at the start of the computer industry, having back-ups has always been emphasized. and yet, very few will heed this advice.

tama sila.. maglagay na kayo ng malaking karatula sa dingding... "attention! your memories may be erased in the course of de-bugging! do you have back-up? if none, we have this..." e, di meron pa kayong extra income..
    heh heh.

so are you liable? it depends.. what is the industry standard? that is what the courts will base their judgement on.
