there was a time in the past, when we would buy products, not for their contents, but for their containers, which we put to good use afterward.
this might sound unbelievable today, but we once fought over canned soft drinks, as we would use the cans afterward as status symbol pencil holders.

histories ago, japan purchased broken glass shards from russia, not for the glass, which they simply threw away in the water, but for the prized wooden crates they came in.
it was rumored that russia used good wood, because they wanted to impress the world.
