I can't find any sense of working OT and then not filing it for OT pay. You know why?

Although I won't disagree with you, because I do this (LIVE WITHIN MEANS) myself, some VERY RICH people I've talked to subscribe instead to this "philosophy":

FIND A WAY TO EARN MORE IF YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS.

The two may look/soud the same, but if you read between the lines, there's a world of difference. Just ask FG Mike Arroyo.

To me, though, it's easier to live within one's means.

I'd be happy to work for you for 75k net. kidding.

I rarely do OT and when I do, I don't file it as well, some bosses feel suspicious when you file OT. So as not to create any more issue I don't file it anymore.

I agree with you sir Tidus, but then again in pinas lets say we can have a net savings of 1M for say 15 years or compare to earn it 1 year outside. I myself is working outside pinas for the main reason that I want to retire early & enjoy my life while I still can I'm 32 at the moment, so still young & kicking. hehe

Kaya kelangan mag-sakripisyo.

Cathy it's a matter of presentation. You guys have company policies about OTs right? Most of the time you need to inform your boss that this work entails OT (aka justify your OT work). So paalam mo, it's your right. Sayang ang oras. Time is the greatest thief of all! Once it's gone you won't be able to get it back.

Some companies simply to not allow overtime unless truly required and approved by the bosses.

Employees see it as being a "salary cap" of sorts but the company bosses see it as keeping overhead costs down. What is the point if you are earning P50K/month but the company is lossing money and have to shut down in a few months time?

Having run my own business, overtime can greatly increase a company's overhead in two ways. One is the increase in the cost of labor (for the same job that can be done the next day). The second is the increase in electric bills because the office is open more hours in a month than it should be. A simple extra hour per day will be equal to an extra three days worth in the electric bill. Extending the computation to the year, it would be like paying for an extra month's worth of electricity.

    pakiramdaman lang iyang sa OT.

If you think the company is earning a lot.
