If your stock horn is a mono one, and upgrading it to a two piece horn, you will be needing to upgrade the stock relay as well.

I will be replacing the horn of my Altis po. It has two horns na by default tapos i will be replacing it with Denso Powertone. i think my relay na yun car by default so was thinking twice if i need to add one.

gusto ko kasi stock lang setup sana as much as possible para when time to sell the car babalik ko lang yun stock horn.

when my altis' horn died (left) and turned hoarse and soft (right), i replaced the dead one with the cheapest horn i could find (yung makulay).
the resulting sound was kind of weird, but i liked it. it was neither too soft nor too loud.
i drive with my horns, and i feel that with my now-softer horns, i can keep on doing so, "with some amount of decency"..
'raming tricycle and entitled pedestrians dito samin..

    joke lang po.
    i actually like horn-less driving.

No need of upgrading the stock relay if you plan to upgrade to denso power tone.

When motorcycle riders wear their helmets, their hearing is affected. A "louder than stock" horn may come in handy. Edsa has a lot of vehicles and the noise level has elevated exponentially as well that's why i would still prefer a louder horn.

The point made by soleus was blasting the horn. a0ka, ibabad. There is nothing wrong with upgrading it. But two is enough, 4 is too many, 6 is overkill.
Everyone wants to have a louder horn. The jimny stock sounded pathetic so i upgraded it to bosch evolution.

and that's what every other car owner thinks, and does.
no wonder we have very noisy roads.

How about Mazda 3 sir? My Mazda 3 has 2 stock horns already, so no need to put relay? After almost 4 years of use, I feel it's getting weaker so I'm planning to replace it other brand of horns.

Replacing them with a bigger diaphrgam, higher wattage/higher decibel horn like the bosch europa and hella supertones, you will need to upgrade the stock relay po.

A weakening horn may suggest an aging relay or the horn itself.

Safer pa rin to use a relay. Even if a car has 2 horns, it doesn't mean plug n play na siya with other 2 horn setups. Yung Lancer at Xwind ko had 2 horns but plugging in 2 horns resulted in a weak sound or none at all.

    in the olden days,
the use of a horn relay helped keep the wiring around the steering wheel, cool.
relays also helped combat long wire resistance syndrome.

    da truth!
    magkano lang bah ang relay...

some owners of older, relay-less cars, have converted to relay-ed electricals.
it keeps their switches cooler, their lights brighter, and their horns, louder.

Noted sir Yatta, akala ko kasi if yung car meron 2 horns na, you don't need relay na, planning to replace my stock horn with mitsuba alpha 2 or baka may iba kayong ma recommend. I'll buy it sa pinas and bring it here sa China and ako nakakabiy, daming fake kasi dito.

What is your car's horn?
