The car was already a few months old when I bought the dashcam. Dati naman, natatanggal ko yung suction without any damage to the tint.

One possible reason siguro would be that part of the tint is where the windshield has the micro dots?
From experience, tint doesn't seem to sit 100% on the micro dotted parts of the windshield.

So which one is responsible for the damage - the suction cup, the tint, or the installer?
Will be getting VK70 soon and I wouldn't want this to happen again.
Ginamit ko din yan sa SJ4000 ko on my platinum tint, wala naman naging problem hanggang nagpalit ako ng Huper Optik. Now, I am using the clamp nakakabit sa likod ng rearview mirror since sabi ng Huper wag muna magdikit ng kahit ano for at least 30 days.
Yup the clamp for bike handlebar.

For those w/ SJ400, you can use (1) a suction mount (to be bought separately) to install in to the WINDSHIELD; clamp to install it underneath the REARVIEW MIRROR; or, the flat adhesive to install it on the DASHBOARD.
For me, it looks nicer if you will install it on the DASHBOARD using the flat adhesive.

uhm, wag naman sana. hahaha!
because i installed mine using the adhesive. then with the right combination of clips, you can easily move it to front, left and right =)
also, mas madali sya tanggalin kapag nagpapark ako sa nakabilad sa araw..
although, i have a suction mount. di ko na ginamit dahil mas comfortable ako na nasa dashboard sya.
how about cable management? kasi may portable GPS din ako. bukas, maayos nga lahat hehehe

about VK70, paano kaya malaman kung orig? Mine is just free from the casa na Vkool daw. I specified I want the lightest tint on my front windshield then medium on the rest. From the outside looking through the windshield, pag maaraw di mo makita ang occupants, pero pag gabi na, parang walang tint. Is that normal?
about the clamping, I suppose the tint, being a soft material, would lose its adhesion over time when there's something pulling it (is the dashcam that heavy?).
I am thinking, I'd use the rearview mirror post for this purpose (thinking of Xiaomi Yi but waiting for a dual channel). Di naman siguro basta basta matatanggal yun?
Bro, if it's just free from the casa, most definitely that isn't VK70. If you avail for light tint, that's OEM 35, then medium is OEM 20, and dark is OEM 05.
The SJ4000 and its suction cup isn't very heavy, but the suction force is pretty strong, and it might be that the repeated removal and installation weakened the adhesion of the tint to the glass.
My problem with the Xiaomi Yi is that it doesn't have a Car Mode so it doesn't open automatically, and it doesn't come in black so it's too ubiquitous.
