agree on this. am using OSM for my garmin nuvi. I've yet to see the contributor map of roadguide and i wanted to compare the two. I think it depends on the area covered, one may be more detailed that the other. OSM, being open, is my preferred map though and i now contribute to it as well as report bugs where the changes/corrections I can see on my map in a matter of days

Can I download the OSM map on my garmin? Where? Is it for free or do I have to contribute like in Roadguide?

hi, im using garmin with roadguide map on it. i haven't used an AVT yet pero tingin ko mas ok ang garmin since mas madaming support na makukuha from the net as well as other garmin users.

btw, where can i download the OSM map? gusto ko lang i-try.

I just bought the AVT P900 for Php 18,500 and very satisfied with the device.

Just an update, alot of improvement has been made lately for this device.

    For one, their support which is almost non-existent before are now fully functional with the following;

    1. Regular map updates are now done every three months through iNav website. Overall POI's as of june 2010, 92,000.
    2. Easy installation of updates through iNav website.
    3. Accurate road classification and quick route calculation.
    4. Working technical support by iNav.

AVT P900 is the latest device which uses the accu-map. Its features are similar to some latest garmin device.

Initially, i have the interest to buy garmin, but rather choose the AVT because i don't have the time to be one of their contributor in order to have their comprehensive map.

Sir where did you buy your AVT P900? are the updates really free because someone told me that free updates are only for 2 years from the date of purchase. I checked inav.ph for the price of AVT P900 and it is indicated there that its Php20,000

    Thanks

Garmin is the world's leader in navigation for all walks of life.
for me 18.5k is quite expensive for a unknown brand of GPS. hardware wise malamang these gps came from china na nilagyan lang ng AVT brand, same with CDRKing products (actually may available ng mga GPS sa cd-r king running on licensed windows CE daw: http://www.cdrking.com/?mod=products...tid=32&main=32)

for 8.5k you can get a Garmin na, just slap in the free OSM or the standard roadguide map to get you going (basic navigation pareho lang naman with the road guide contributors map, pero POIs madami talaga ang contributors map),
youll get tons of support pa: software, community, customization etc. official or third pary. even google earth supported ang garmin, so kung may nakita kang some good points of interest sa google earth direct transfer agad sa garmin.

baka in two years maka tatlo or apat na release lang sila ng map updates parang lugi yata ah.

Sabi sa akin ng iNav magkakaroon sila ng new update ngayong October, heto at October 16 na wala pa rin. Naghihintay pa rin ako. 3 times na akong winala ng GPS na to kaya humihingi ako ng update sa iNav.
