November 11th, 2006 11:43 AM #1Mga Sir,
Tanong ko lang po kasi dito sa kasi sa office namin yung parking ng vehicles walang buong in short expose sa araw or ulan..So pagnagdala ako ng car expose sya sa 12hrs.
Alin ay may mas masamang or mas malaking effect (I know parehong may bad effect) sa Paint or body ng sasakyan pag expose sa araw or ulan? kaya pag umuulan di ko nalang dindala kc 12hrs syang nababasa sa labas, kaya ung motorcycle ko ang dindala ko pag umulan 12kms lang biyahe ko balikan.
TIA.
God Bless & Ride Safe

AFAIK mas malaki effect ng sunlight cause if can crack ypur cars paint like what happened to my car! wala kasi akong parking dati kaya sa labas lang naka park ung oto ko ayun after 3-4weeks napansin ko crack na ung paint sa bubong! but it can be prevented basta alaga lang sa wax!

hi puchok.. yea, sunlight nga for me.. kasi yung sunlight binubutas nya yung bubong mo.. nagkakaron ng "spots" na bilogbilog na bakbak na yung pintura.. wag mo rin gagawin na icover yung car habang basa yung bubong.. tas papaarawan mo.. bad din un LOL

Both have negative effects, sunlight will cause UV damage and may crack the paint, peel the clear coat, fade the interior, crack the dashboard, or plastics, etc.
Rain will cause rust where there are paint chips or bare metals exposed, and if left to dry in the sunlight, the water spots will cause etching on the paint dahil dirt + water yon so it will embed on the paint.
The worst is when the car is exposed to the sun for half the time, and then it rains for half the time and you leave the car there untouched since you're at work.

tama sabi mo. both can cause extensive damage to your car. actually, sunlight or rain, i'd rather look at it as a case of splitting hairs already.
and if your car is a daily driver naman, this will always be exposed to those elements. tatanggapin ko na lang that its just the way it is and just take care of it through regular detailing and maintenance.

I think same lang may bad effect. For me open yung garage namin at under a tree. Sa parking ng office namin sa Service road lang ng Roxas Blvd. Malapit pa sa Manila Bay so may dag dag pang bad effect dahil sa Hangin na galing sa dagat. So maitenance lang at wax/detail. Lagi din dapat malinis. Pag umuulan dapat nga pag uwi paliguan or car wash mo yung car para mabawasan o mataggal yung acid.

modern automotive coatings are designed to resists the effects of rain and the uv light of the sun. but between the two, it's the sun that does more damage. the damage that rain causes will only happen or will be exacerbated by the effects of exposure to the sun. for example, rusting of panels will only happen if water manages to seep into cracks of the paint and paint will only crack if it is repeatedly exposed to the sun for a prolonged period. rain per se is pure water, it's nature's version of distilled water unless, it dissolves sulfur dioxide and other dust and particulates coming from auto emissions w/c causes the so called acid rain. only then will rain become a harmful agent due to it's acidity and the residue that is left on the car's coating when it is again exposed to the sun. Again, the dust that deposits on the car's coating will only become harmful if it's exposed to the sun since it's like baking dust particles on the surface of your coatings. on the other hand, UV light from the sun can destroy the polymer binder that makes up your car coating thru so called chain scission mechanisms - simply put, it can cut up the molecules that comprise your car's coatings. although most automotive coatings are formulated to contain so called anti-uv additives or UV-stabilizers, then will only work for a while. so as your car ages, so does your car's coating, unless your car is only used at night and is always stored under the shade, so automotive refinishing or re-coating will sooner or later become necessary.
di ko po galing sa google yan... stock knowledge, since formulating coatings for various applications is one of my work areas. hth ;DLast edited by rsnald; November 13th, 2006 at 06:12 PM.
