    Derf,

You wrote that you used to work in the claims department of a insurance co.
Why would a claim take months to resolve?

    Answer to
    1. Yes you can actually have multiple claims in a year.
    2. It is not enough to have ctpl only. 10 year old and above vehicles are insurable,
subject to inspection or submission of an existing or expired policy.

    Tama ka, participation lang.

And tama din si derf, up to 50% depreciation.

I defends on how the policy was written.

As to 80-90% depreciation wala pa ako nakita na ganyan.

    2. The insurance companies do not want to accept old vehicles for compre insurance coverage. And theres a big reason why. They have more claims than the newer vehicles. So that means it is better for owners of older vehicles to insure their cars, that is if there are any takers. As long as you have a car, it is always advisable to have a compre insurance. Not only for the own damage claim of your vehicle, but more so for third party accidents. Maximum participation for parts replaced is 45% of the value of the parts for cars older than 7 years and 50% for mechanical parts like suspension, tires, etc.. If youre saving on money, you can have the option to replace the damaged collision parts with surplus, in which case you dont need to share in the cost of the parts. No participation on the depreciation.
Underwriters, but not all underwriters would decline coverage on old vehicles.
Condition of the vehicle should be the primary consideration
because it says a lot about the owner of the thing to be insured.

The owner is actually half the risk.

Whoever has insurable interest, should be the owner of the policy.

In this case, the former owner does not have insurable interest.

The present owner has insurable interest and possession. It goes that the policy be named ofter the owner.

But on CTPL these would not apply as it clearly shows tax avoidance.

No policy should be issued without proof of insurable interest.

You will not be able to claim on your CTPL without proper endorsement.
Have your deed of sale notarized. This would allow you to have you car insurance policy under your name.

Lahat ng insurance pareho lang ang payment terms.

    Single Pay -

30 days to 120 days - ito standard ito sa lahat ng trade.

    Semi Annual or 6 MONTHS

    Quarterly

So long as you have properly endorsed all documents and they have accepted the risk then there should be no problem.

You have to look at the company din and the agent. Insurance is a contract of promise based on trust. Parang pinahawak mo lang muna yung pera sa insurance para pagdating ng claim, ay sila naman ang bahala sa iyo.

Example 1: Premium 10,000. Claim damage 20,000. Isang tawag lang sa agent to report. Insurer pays 20,000 less participation within a very reasonable time.

Example 2: Premium 8,000. Claim damage 20,000. Agent nowhere to be found. You are left alone doing your own follow up. After months of follow up and negotiation, they finally agreed to pay you 10,000.

Which one is the better deal?

You should probably increase your VTPL coverage. 100k is just not practical anymore, especially since your vehicle is somewhat on the expensive side. Should at least be 200k or preferably even more.

As for the PA coverage, you dont have to ask for the extra coverage as they are already included in the typical PA coverage. Although they dont indicate it in the table of premium or coverage, it is written on the policy somehwere in the clauses section. AD & D is accidental death and disablement. No, PA coverage is not generally free, although some insurance companies do include it for free since this coverage is considered a "safe" coverage for insurers. Here is an example of PA coverage from federal phoenix with the corresponding premium:
Thanks _Qwerty_ and derf8666 for the infos. Pagaaralan kong mabuti.
