Shell V-Power Diesel or Unioil Euro IV Diesel.
From my experience, they have the same performance and FC. Unioil is cheaper but I can't really be sure how consistent their fuel is.
Unlike Shell whose refinery is based here and is heavily regulated, Unioil imports from various sources. Their supply today might not be the same as their supply next month.
Personally I gas up at Unioil in Manila but Shell anywhere else.

April 3rd, 2014 05:26 PM #176Thanks for the response guys. Bad experience kasi yung petron turbo diesel mejo umingay yung makina and after a day nag lights on yung check engine. casa says baka dahil sa diesel na kinarga kasi wala naman sila nacheck. and toyota doe'snt recommend yung petron turbo diesel, they recommend shell vpower nitro diesel.

April 3rd, 2014 06:40 PM #177I've had the same experience with my new KDM Starex CVX 2014. I exhausted the initial fuel load from casa and tried a tank full of Unioil's Euro 4 diesel but noticed a lag in the acceleration and a bit noisy during idling. When the next tank load came up I tried Petron's Turbo diesel and it got worst. When I loaded Shell's V nitro diesel strangely the engined purred like a kitten and the throttle response was incredible. Since then I have been using Shell V nitro and my FC seems better too. However, about twice I experienced loading from a different branch of Shell than the usual place I go to and I've noticed that the fuel quality seem to be different although it's the same product. I think this is attributed to the poor condition of the storage tank of the station w/c affects the quality of the fuel such as contaminants. I have a Nissan ELGRAND E50 with a ZD30 engine and tested the fuel of the 3 brands the same way I did with my Starex CVX and guess what, on the Petron Turbo diesel my fuel filter got clogged with filth. After the change of the filter I tried to load Petron Turbo again and the engine lost it's pulling power immediately. We changed the filter again and this time I loaded Shell's V nitro and Voila, no more lag, the engine power normalized if not improved and the FC is better. This time I only gas up at trusted branches of Shell station.

I'm finding Shell VPower Nitro+ Diesel to be a good match for the GS. Among the diesels I've tried (i.e. Caltex, Petron - both diesel variants, Shell Fuel Saver, Unioil, Flying V), the VPower Nitro+ did away with the smoke. The GS doesn't emit dark smoke, but at night, when you floor the pedal, you'll notice with the other diesels that there is quite some smoke. Not with the Vpower Nitro+.
On the Prado, however, being relatively old school TDIC, the Vpower Nitro+ didn't make a difference, so I saved a bit and switched to Caltex diesel. Same lang ang hatak and wala ding usok.
