Ran out of gas once on a 70's Lancer on the highway... man, that was a looooooooooong way to push... :hysterical:

I always run my car below "E". My reserve is about 8 liters, but I usually run the car down to within 2-4 liters of empty before refilling. Bad habit, I know...

On more modern cars with trip calculators, it's easier. Sa Focus, I've driven it to within one and a half liters of empty without worries...

yung super empty at yung nasa upper nya before the half.

tapos po yung reserve nya bukod pa dun? or yung reserve nya is yung line at
the upper of the full empty mark?

Siyempre center of attraction ako dun sa area na yon and in as much as I wanted to leave it there, I didn't have a choice.

But my present car's tank capacity is 45L. One time, the gas fuel tank indicator lit up at nagpafull tank na lang ako and it was 44.xx Liters. So does it mean I only had 0.xxx left on my reserve tank?

Biggest fill up ever done on my diesel was 18 gallons, nearly 70L. It was on R (our version of E) for quite a while but the light never came on. Yep, one more project to do...

Man just a note to all those people who insist on running on fumes... It's actually WORSE for your wallet!

When you run the tank down to empty, gasoline tends to vaporize. On older cars, especially if the seal on the filler cap isn't air tight you'll be losing fuel slowly over time. It also tends to make your remaining fuel less usable, because obviously your fuel pump and injectors don't like being fed combustible air. Most of the time, fuel that you could have used will end up getting released as vapor the next time you fill up.

42 liters on my ride (that's what the manual says) although on the average, gas station trips costs me 34-35 liters worth of gas (auto fill-up lang).

i'm always concious when it comes to fuel in the tank. After every full tank, i reset my trip meter. so aside from the warning light, i take notice of the distance i have run.
