There are provisions to the rule for cars that are in a significant stage of the design process

Those already sold and on the road? Probably grandfathered.

It’s time to pull the plug on plug-in hybrids | TechCrunch

PHEVs have been touted as a way to ease cautious consumers into full EVs. The argument goes something like this: Drivers will become habituated with plugging in while EV charging networks are built out. By the time they’re ready for their next vehicle, the networks will be ready and customers can ease into an EV.

But if nobody is plugging in their PHEVs, they’re definitely not developing the habit. Without full charges, the electric drivetrain isn’t benefiting anyone. The public still suffers from worse air pollution, and drivers are carting around hundreds of pounds of weight and enduring more recalls and costlier service visits as a result of the complex drivetrain.

ilang beses ko na narinig from car reviewers na plug-in hybrid's performance dips kapag low batt sya. mas malakas pa daw sa gas compared to normal hybrids.

so naisip ko, if I replace my City with a BYD and tinamad kami mag charge... mawawalan din ng sense na plug-in hybrid sya

There's a test drive event at the MoA concert grounds (near Lanson Place Hotel). Admission is free and the event is until Sunday, May 10.

While there are ICE vehicles for testing, the vast majority of inventory for test drive seem to be NEV's. Brands with booths that I saw were:

    • Tesla
    • Honda
    • Toyota
    • Lexus
    • BYD
    • Omoda & Jaecoo
    • Kia
    • Nissan

The others I couldn't see clearly. For those of you thinking about hybrids and EV's, this is a great chance to check them out one after the other. Trust me, it is a hassle these days to get test drives for EV's and hybrids from dealerships, and the fact that you could do side by side comparisons is great.

Mainit nga lang so stay hydrated.

1st world countries dont even do that. Asa pa tayo dito. And the Govt giving up a potential money making opportunity is unheard of [emoji16]

Afaik what some countries do for EV’s:

    - Subsidized purchase price
    - EV Lane on motorways
    - Subsidized cost of charging
    - Special EV parking slots on public places

I may have forgotten some details, feel free to add.

PH taxpayers won't benefit by subsidizing luxury electric cars

but we'd get a lot of air and noise pollution reduction by having Gogoros, instead of those noisy smoky motorcycles na walang catalytic converters

Mas malaki po ang percent ng coal energy natin so most likely, coal ang gagamitin para macharge yang mga electric vehicle.

So not even 1 member here owns a hybrid to make an honest to goodness assessment/review?

Not an EV, meanth a hybrid. All discussions so far are for an EV, but the hybrid is a more practical & reasonable replacement for diesel vehicles. These have been selling in the country for a few years now, & I am quite interested in the real world scenario.

Its like pinapausukan yung puno (good for the trees but bad for the human lungs) The best for trees is composting.

Pag nasa village kayo na tahimik at bigla may nagpastart ng innova, fortuner, monstero eh dinig mo agad yung tunog-latang makina. Iskandaloso. Takaw-attention.

Sakin, ok pa rin diesel for long trips. Yung short trips ang dehado diesel. Gas ay mas ideal sa city, kaya lang lumalakas consumo. Pag hybrid, mas ideal sya kasi electric sa acceleration.

yeah coal today, but in the future we could be charging off of solar, nuclear fusion, etc. the point is there is a PATH for cleaner transportation in the future w/ electric vehicles

my cousin in the US has a chevy volt. i've ridden in it a few times. i'm not a fan of hybrids, too much complexity. i'd rather have a pure battery EV like tesla or Honda-E. i don't even need a long-range EV. most people just drive short distances everyday. so hopefully a small electric car becomes available in the future. i'd definitely buy one for daily use. for long trips i'd just use the gasoline car...
