With regards to carburated engines' ignition timing, yes. The difference of ignition timing between gasoline and LPG is 10 degrees more advance for LPG. This is also true for EFI engines.
Your choices would be:
1. retain timing for gasoline and have poor engine performance under LPG.
2. adjust for LPG and have poor engine performance under gasoline.
3. adjust somewhere midway between gasoline & LPG for a compromised performance for both fuels.
Option 1 is what is currently being done by most LPG kit installers.
Option 2 would mean poorer performance under gasoline (or requiring to use high octane gasoline) but since you are running on LPG nearly all the time, it shouldn't be much of a problem. It would mean you would need to use high octane if you need to run use gasoline without adjusting ignition timing.
Option 3 just means that, a compromise to use either fuel but not at it's best.
Note: some EFI engines can self-adjust the ignition timing and others cannot.
hi there, i am seriuosly considering converting my 1988 nissan sentra to lpg. and i am canvassing now different installers in this forum. however no one ever mentions SKN gas equipments. (made in india daw ito ). they are also installers of LPG conversion kits. just want to know kung meron ng nagtry ng services nila. medyo mura sa kanila 23,500 pesos for my car. ang number nga pala nila 6333480 and 6333438 they are located at kapitoly pasig. kung meron ng nagtry, please share naman the experience.
tanong lng mga sirs...
pwede ba n ilagay yung lpg tank sa lalagyan ng spare tire ng lite ace??
kasya ba? sayang kasi ung space sa likod ng lite ace, baka hindi na malagyan ng balik bayan boxes...
thanks.....
went to nissan quezon ave today. sabi nung sales rep na they will be offering italian lpg system by the end of this year
Nissan in C5/Meralco Avenue is already offering italian lpg system (tartarini brand). According to them, converting an X-trail (with donut tank) will cost 60K plus.Regarding consumption, they said that it will remain the same as gasoline, about 8km/l.

I'd be a bit weary about anything offered by Nissan Gallery, they're one of the first Nissan dealers to openly promote Khaos hehe... They probably know nothing about the system.
Mura na yan. I was given a quote by another distributor of tartarini, 80K for my Venture. Torpedo tank pa yun. Kung torodial tank aka donut, plus 5k pa daw. Can't remember kung VAT inclusive na ba.
Expect consumption to go up by around 15%
Alam nila yung Khaos, the more people install khaos the more business nila for repairsI'd be a bit weary about anything offered by Nissan Gallery, they're one of the first Nissan dealers to openly promote Khaos hehe... They probably know nothing about the system.![]()
good point userfriendly hehe, di ko naisip yun ah...
Tama lang yung 60K IMO kung yung may ECU real-time adjustment ng timing... But I think 50K lang yan tapos 10K patong sa kasa hehe.
i had a chat with a taxi driver(corolla XL lovelife ung dala) on my way to
megamall last week....he had some interesting comments about LPG.
...but before we go into that, i just want to make it clear na hindi ko sigurado kung totoo ung pinagsasabi niya; i posted the comments here in hopes that someone would verify/refute what he told me
Here goes:
-- dati rati, he would use up less than 50 liters of fuel a day, usually mga 42 liters daw. with the lpg kit installed, umaabot ng 50-60 liters per day(imho, there could be a lot of factors. maybe medyo malayo ung biyahe na on that particular day, or matrapik, etc. pwede rin that maybe psychologically he thinks mas mahina hatak ng LPG, so mas madiin tumapak sa gas. dunno)
-- mas mahina daw hatak when going uphill. dati rati daw, with 3-4 people onboard, with aircon on, no problems daw. ngayong naka LPG, di na daw kinayanan even without aircon
-- kelangan daw ng "special" sparkplugs pag LPG kit. ung 'ordinary' denso sparkplugs, mga isang linggo lang daw tinatagal; nasisira daw dahil mas mainit daw pag LPG. ung kelangan daw gamitin is some sort of sparkplug that has four prongs/produces four sparks
-- most alarming of all...kelangan daw mag mini top overhaul every so often. me namumuo daw na layer of soot on the cylinder heads, which needs to be cleaned out regularly(parang months ata ang pagitan?)
-- finally, and strangest of all, mas madali daw nanunuyo ung lalamunan niya when he started driving an LPG converted unit. i'm not really sure what to think
don't shoot the messenger peeps, just trying to get opinions from the people who spend the most time driving LPG cars. Sana'y meron pong magclarify nitong mga issues ;)
