From the motoring section of today's Philippine Star.

Any comments on this kit? And how is it different from the other kits from other installers? Thanks!

This system are already Toyota Philippines accredited and is dyno garanteed (autoplus) that power loss in city or highway driving is at most 2% or in some vehicles 0%. Our main line is the VOGAS plus system (dual core processor) and the VOGAS SPlit Fuel System.

The system used by Voltran is a mix of petrol AND lpg at the same time. The percentage of mix depends on the program and engine load. So there would be times when the engine is using all lpg but at higher loads and rpms, it might be
running at half petrol and half lpg.

The system retains the engine's original performance and smoothness. With the traditional SGI kits, some percentage of power is lost.

I can't say if the Voltran LPG system is better than the usual SGI-LPG kits for the Mazda3.

So in other words, the Voltran system is a newer generation (and better?) than those SGI kits that have been discussed in the previous pages? What about other installers, do they have a competing system as well?

No idea if it's generally better. It came in late as compared to the other companies already offering LPG conversion kits in the local market.

But definitely some cars will run better with a petrol/lpg mix. But from what I have heard, those vehicles are the ones with larger engine displacements.

Given the LPG conversion market has slowed down since a year ago, I doubt if the other LPG conversion companies would have introduced a similar system.

If the price of oil did not collapse, we would be seeing more options.

They (bigfootz) might be really are busy now, I have talked to Toyota Manila Bay top service people and they told me they are having seminars on LPG conversions. We have a good talk on LPG conversion when they saw my LPG tank underneath the Innova.

I guess Econogas (ETI) has cornered the LPG conversion market.

For those thinking/considering of converting to Auto-LPG.

How much is your fuel bill?

    P37.00/L unleaded gasoline
    P18.90/L Auto-LPG

    50 liters of fuel:
    gasoline = P1,850
    auto-lpg = P945

Assuming you refuel 4 times a month:
    gasoline = P7,400 / month
    auto-lpg = P3,780 / month

Monthly fuel cost difference = P3620.00

So if you convert to Auto-LPG, you save P3620 per month which is computed to P43,440 per year.

Not convinced? Check the news on the prices of oil... it's trend will be to increase as colder weather moves in.

I have a recurring engine stalling problem which I can't figure out. It always happens after a long drive of about 2 hours or more. After I park the car for a long while, say about an hour, and I drive off again, I will run less than a kilometer and the engine will suddenly stall. It won't re-start unless I turn off the SGI, and run on gasoline. Usually, it takes at least a half day before I can turn on the LPG again.
At first I suspected a clogged fuel line. But I noticed that the stalling only happens under the very same circumstances. My typical daily drives are trouble-free.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any guesses?

check your sparkplugs for carbon deposits. Have the existing sparkplugs cleaned or replaced.

If you are replacing your sparkplugs, have them properly gapped. If the gap is too big, it can cause engine running problems.

    Yep. Experienced this before.

What I've done is to switch to gasoline before turning off the engine. So far it's working for me. Before kasi, I get the stalling issue about every month. Tapos I bring the car to Greenfuel and they quickly fix it (I think mostly cleaning lang naman). Kaya lang hassle din palagi pumunta sa Greenfuel kasi out of the way for me.

Then one day, nagpalit ako ng LPG ng kalan namin. Tapos ayaw magsindi. Apparently, I had to reset the safety device attached to the regulator to resume gas flow. I figured baka ganun din sa SGI kit ko. Thus, I began switching to gasoline before turning off the engine in the hope that it somehow resets some "safety device" in my SGI kit. So far, 3 months na, hindi pa nagloloko ulit car ko (touch wood).

I suggest you try this technique. Downside lang is you need to remember to switch back to LPG the next time you use the car as the auto-switch to LPG is disabled when you turn off the engine on gasoline.

    GH,
Plugs are clean. And like I mentioned, the stalling only happens under the same peculiar circumstances, which don't seem to suggest any problem with the engine.

    quan2boy,
    Will definitely try your suggestion.

    Thanks!

It happens to me before, the culprit is oily LPG contamination.

Try to bleed or consume your remaining fuel and look for a cleaner LPG filling station preferably newly built filling station or a station that maintains their facility.

I'm reaching now 1 year on LPG and so far I'm satisfied with my GreenFuel LPG kit and the LPG station I frequent.

The first time it happened, I immediately brought the car to Greenfuel. They did the bleeding, and told me just what you said about choosing filling stations. Since then, I've never gone to any station other than Total in Alabang or the one in Makati.
I thought the problem was solved until I did another long drive and the same thing happened, as I described in my first post.
Don't get me wrong... my LPG kit is also a year old now, and I never regretted getting it. Except for this problem which came about only over the last few months, the kit is practically trouble-free during my normal daily drives.

When they did the LPG bleeding on a clean cloth, have you seen the oily residue?

Oily LPG contamination can really be problematic to SGI kit system, where injectors are getting clog.

Scout again for other LPG filling station that does PMS on their tanks. Total North Fairview is now the only LPG filling station I frequent, they do regular PMS on their tanks.
