paano kung may yaya? masikip na agad yun. kasi kung family car, either 7-seater (innova, fortuner, avanza) or van talaga (starex, hiace). kapag marami rin kayong dala baka mahirapan ka sa trunk, lalakas ka lang lalo sa gas. from what i've observed with peers, kapag naging 2 na yung anak, benta nila agad yung extra sedan to get a more practical big car na 7seater. at least puwede pa nilang gawing playpen yung buong likod hahaha. i suggest considering an innova (the real practical choice) or grand livina. look at other AUVs also (adventure, crosswind, etc). baka mahirapan ka later on with a sedan with your kids.
for maintenance, i'm not sure about lancer ex costs but is usually set aside around 5-7k budget every 5000km. kapag major maintenance, umaabot minsan ng 10k (i drive a honda). hindi na raw pala sirain ang lancer ngayon compared to the pizza model (late 90s). you should consider pm costs, fuel consumption, and even regular cleaning costs; major items yan in total cost of ownership. think also about your payment period of 5yrs; optimal mix for a good balance between interest payments and cashflow liquidity is 3yrs. sayang interest payments, dagdag mo na lang sa gatas ng 1yr old mo.
finally, since first car din, i highly suggest you get a M/T model para matuto muna sa stickshift. madali na namang mag-a/t, parang bumpcar na lang yan. i actually recommend to get a 2nd hand unit first. masanay ka muna and mabinyagan (aka mabangga haha) para mawala yung initial kaba of driving. tsaka na yung porma kapag kampante ka na talaga mag-drive. nowadays, it's better to be practical lalo na sa since may 3kids ka na.
linawin ko lang: i'm not against the lancer, it's a really good car (headturner talaga). given lang your situation, you might want to consider your constraints as well. palmiyado ka na dude, isip lang nang mabuti sa priorities. if you go to big bert's sa ortigas during weekend mornings, ang dami mong makakausap na in the same situation.
