for this?

It depends on the needs of the responders, but for me, I wouldn't. I don't need a "monster truck"kasi.

while i'm a big fan of 4wd machines in general, i like my 4wds plain, and bone stock.
mud tyres and rock crawler setups like that above do not, in general, make for good straight line driving. those mud tyres will not last as long cheapo taiwan tyres if you use them for dd.
Here's some background...
I was given the opportunity to buy this show truck. It's a 1997 Toyota LN106 with only 40 k original kms in it. All the set up are original bolt-ons and US made. If I get this, I plan to make the tires smaller to 35" from the 39 inchers and remove the body lift of 4". This way, it would make climbing the pick up much easier. As you know, this is the "last of the Mohicans" when it comes to solid axle front pick ups (way tougher for off-road than IFS, but poorer handling for street). This is also the LN106 which many off-roaders give high respects to.
The thing is, I seldom use my Strada now. I'm really considering getting this rig as a weekend toy coz I want to try some serious off-roading. I just can't do this to my Strada. Masyado kasing pogi.
I just want to get your opinions....
Thanks, mga brods.
I think you have answered your query yourself. Since you need it then why not?
I supposed the Strada is not your only vehicle so you can toy around. Is it a worthy swap? Let us put it this way, its not everyone's cup of tea. But if you are happy with it, then why not again. Happiness and satisfaction are priceless.
By the way, paalam din kay mrs...things bought are still conjugal.
Good luck.
Why oh Why doc drave?!![]()
Im 100% sure it would be better! not too solid axles though but im pretty sure it will do the work and still bring on andrenalin +10million pogi points!

Depends on the condition of the show truck. If it's an immaculate interior with no rattles and the engine is smoke free... why not? First take note of all the mods and calculate what you'd have to do to a stock Hilux to get it to that point. Get the going price from Buy n' Sell... add about 50k to that, assuming the unit is indeed "fresh"... also, don't forget to add depreciation to the mods, too... you shouldn't have to pay more than 1/2 to 2/3rds of what the mods add to the car, because you're assuming the mods are secondhand, too...
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
consider also the FC of that monster. i'm sure it would drink more than your strada. if you will use it as a daily drive, (with 35s) then would you bear the rough ride? remember that the strada has a near-car ride. but if you really want serious offroading, then why not? it's a nice rigbut remember, it's more fun to build you own rig, right?

wait. why just get the hilux and retain the strada? that would be better![]()
Salamat, mga brods. Highly appreciate it.
I still have time to decide, but, I'm still really leaning towards the hilux.
The only disadvantage of the Hilux is it's age. Kaya lang, I feel that it would last longer than my Strada. My Strada is 3 years old with 45k kms and yet again, some problems are coming back like the steering which has already been replaced at 25k kms. Parang wala akong confidence when the warranty expires.
Niky, the engine is still strong. The owner spent around 700 - 800k for the mods alone and I'll be paying only maybe 1/3 of that.
JJCE, I know it's better to build my own rig, but it was offered to me with the mods already so why not, di ba?
Lcrc777, mas marami pa ring possibilities ang Hilux when it comes to mods.
