Landcruiser for me. Subok na ang reliability and druability, top notch resale value (not that you will ever sell it), and best of all its the official car of the UN peacekeepers. So alam talaga matibay ito since they always use Landcruiser's in the atrocious landscape of Africa and other war torn places....
Landcruiser 200 all the way...
hail to the King of the off road and on road...
Fortuner? Only in 3.0 D4D, but the Everest's engine is better. I don't really like the on-road ride of either SUV, so I'll give it to the Everest for the better AWD system and engine.
It's impossible to find fault with the Landcruiser, but at 4.5 million pesos, that's big bucks for this big bruiser. Still, it's a great vehicle, and one Toyota that definitely lives up to the hype.
Otherwise... most of the "SUVs" on the market nowadays are road-going cars rather than serious off-roaders. Too bad the big boys have all become gentrified.
I'll chime in here to say, that the best off-roader available on the market today is...
The Suzuki jimny. Walang kapalit.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The old land cruisers and defenders for sheer off roadability.
Then there's the HMMWV.
Fuel costs? hell, X5 3.0D... or, hopefully, if they release one, X5 3.5D
Can you say... fun?![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The X5 is actually easy to slide in the slaloms... but on the road, it's not something to do if you've got a heart condition......four-wheel slides count... any car that's balanced enough to slide that way gets my respect, whether or not it can powerslide...
Our current tester can *ahem* kick out with little four wheel drifts, but it's a front-biased AWD and AT... still, respectful. Not quite as playful as an X5, but very very good.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
my choice: should be 4X4
Less than 2M = Everest 3.0 VGT
Less than 3M = Pajero 3.2 DiD or the Patrol Super Safari M/T
Over 4M = the LC200 with D4D or the Range Rover Sport diesel
