The Ayala automotive arm got away with the marketing with Honda as a premium brand but it ain't going to kickoff in marketing an "affordable German" brand. Everywhere in the world VW cars are meant to compete with the Japanese brands.
There are only a few Jettas, Polo, and Tiguan on the road. You might even see more Golf GTi (due to its cult following) and Touaregs (good value proposition over its more expensive brothers - Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne).

I think the Polo HB 1.6L is manufactured in Malaysia. All the others are shipped from Europe or Mexico.
In the case of the Jetta 2.0TDI MT, it is priced at around 1.3M but when you look at it (inside and out), you will not see much value on it. It has fabric seats, dark-toned utilitarian interiors, manual reclining seats, and manual aircon controls. Compare that to the TOTL Mazda3 or Focus or Civic or Altis at 1.2M and you will wonder how much value these offer over the Jetta.Last edited by Egan101; July 3rd, 2015 at 11:41 AM.
